Hi guys !

I recently purchased a Sonzera 20 version 1 from its first owner who bought it New then stopped working .
the previous owner was lame sending it to PRS when it was under warranty .

literally the amp looks like brand new its been sitting in the previous owner room for years .
The previous owner said he had less than a week of playing it and it’s true it looks brand new .

Anyways

Amp symptoms :

FLIP power On : no red light on front indicator no led light green red channels front . 6l6s light on V3 & V4 too but V1 V2 don’t light on

FLIP standby On : no sound just a light humming still NO Red light indicators front off and V1 V2 don’t light up . Only 6l6s and V3 V4 are lighting up

Anyone knows where to look at ? it looks like the v1 v2 are not getting the DC voltage along with front LEDs

thanks in advance

Hi.

The warranty of the amp will be 5 years, so it may still be valid. Check the date on the serial number sticker on the back, which will be the date of manufacture, if it's less than 5 years, then certainly it will be still under warranty.

If it's not under warranty, check the following.

It sounds like the power rail for the pre-amp section is not receiving power. Plug a guitar in the "Return" of the effects loop on the back. If you get sound from the guitar, it will confirm the power-amp section is working. You can remove the four screws in the top and slide out the chassis a small amount and you will see two fuses. Make sure these fuses are good and making good contact with the fuse holder. If you don't feel comfortable opening up the amp, then I would suggest taking it to a tech as there's very dangerous high DC voltages inside.

But my initial thought is that it maybe still under warranty. I would contact PRS support as they will probably repair it regardless of the warranty if you explain the problem occurred years ago.

Hope this helps.

African jazz thanks you so much first win I did check those two fuses inside they are good also checked the support where they sits all good .
but still no V1 V2 and no front Light leds
I did as you said plugged the guitar in the return and boom got the sound out , it must be something loose somewhere down there.
SO THE power section is working I got the sound and I even jammed little on it lol .

I already contacted PRS filled the form online more than a week ago no response also called last week many times no response .

Andy ive checked all the fuses they all checked continuity

thanks guys !

GUYS update good news
I found out the culprits . its the bridge rectifier diodes the four next to the two internal fuses I replaced them and boom light is on in the front , plug the guitar sound is out .
one more thing the amp is stuck in red channel I tried manually with switch nothing tried foot switch nothing too .
there is a diodes next to the far relay close to V1 that gives me a reading from both sides its not suppose too im suspecting that diode is faulty .
ill post the result and hope this thread helps other Sonzera users !!!!

Big win today one more little thing to fix

thanks all
