I'm really interested in a DC245 that happens to have Soapbars. I would like to have regular humbuckers installed. Is this a project or a simple swap?

Thanks!

I believe there are mini humbuckers that can slip into a soap bar rout, but getting regular humbuckers in there is going to require wood removal...

Why don't you just look for a DC 245 with humbuckers routing out the body if not done right will not only look hideous but knock the value of the guitar down considerably.I did that to a les Paul in the 80's and the pickup rings just fit but if you looked close you could See the original p 90 routes I would say not a good idea.

Yeah, you'll have to rout the cavity slightly and then glue in a couple pieces for the mounting ring's screws that go into the body. DiMarzio makes a couple soapbar sized humbuckers, and there may be a few more out there, and of course as was mentioned Gibby LP-Deluxe style mini-humbuckers will fit too.

Thanks!
I'm open to mini humbuckers too. I never thought they would fit.
So a Dimarzio Tone Zone P90 for example would fit into a dc245 Soapbar?

Soapbars aren't your grandmother's pickups (unless your grandmother rocks), they can get down right NASTY. Try them first.

Ok, bought the guitar. Now I'm hunting pickups. The nastier the better....I've been playing the \m/ pickups on my other guitars. I'm thinking the Dimarzio superdistortion P90 in the bridge ...not sure what to put in the neck.......can I put the Tone Zone p90 in the neck? I had the Tone Zone in the bridge of a Strat I had years ago.

Lindy Fralin and Ron Thorn both offer P90-shaped humbuckers that sound awesome. That way the mod is totally reversible.
