I've got a couple of McCarty's and I'm looking at swapping out the humbuckers for P-90 soapbars.
My question is, will they fit without major modifications, or is it as simple as getting some different sized pickup rings?
Thanks!

Way different rout size's needed - HB's are a lot wider top to bottom than a P90 - look into Gibson P94's, Alnico P90's in a HB size shape, they will fit where the McCarty HB's came out. There are other HB sized P90's, Gibson, who invented the P90, does a very good job with a non-traditional sized P90 with the P94. I put a set in an Ibanez AM50, they sounded great. I can only plead temporary insanity for having sold that guitar.

I've tried quite a few humbucker sized p90 and my favorites are Fralin

Second the Fralin. Lindy has yet to make a pickup that sounds bad. He just doesn't do it.

Or you can try BKP, they've got several HP90s out there.

Lindy makes great pickups, I've also used Hamonic Designs Z90 which are awesome .. hand built and worth the wait .
Gibson makes a P94 that is nice as well
