PRS Silver Sky SE Volume Roll Off Issue/Concern

First time poster - long time PRS player.

I recently purchased an SE Silver Sky as a backup/B-Guitar, but honestly I'm so blown away in it's closeness to my USA Silver Sky that I'm going to end up keeping it longer than expected - the lightweight poplar and Moon White color doesn't hurt either.

So here's my concern:
What I've noticed about it is that the volume pot almost acts like a tone AND volume pot. When I roll off the volume from 10 to 7, it's like I rolled off the tone from 10 to 5. - furthermore, when I roll the volume down to 4-5, I can almost hear the guitar acoustically louder than I can the signal output. The volume almost goes to nothing when the knob is at 5. My USA model isn't like this, nor is any other PRS I've played/had.

From what I read/understand, the USA model has specific pots/resistors in it that give it the gradual/linear volume range.

Is this common? Is there any fix to it? I ride the volume knob pretty heavy during gigs, and am a big clarity tone kind of guy, so this really bums me out if I can't do anything about it. I'm going to call PRS tech support, but figured I'd put a feeler out here. Thanks. Any input is appreciated.

It is common, which is why many PRS models have the treble bleed cap on the volume pot, but some vintage inspired models like the 594 and SS don’t have them for sale of being “vintage correct.”

I noticed the same thing on my 594, and put treble bleed caps on, which helped. My USA SS, on the other hand, like you I don’t notice that issue or feel the need put a cap on.

I suppose you could go either way with your SE, put a cap on the pot or just put USA electronics in, if you can get the specific Silver Sky components, not sure if they sell them on the PRS store. FWIW, I think the SS has the best pots I’ve ever used! Very good taper and tuned just right.
