Hello fellas, had a custom 22 for about a decade about 10 years ago, it as my main gigging guitar but parted ways with it… recently got the urge to look into the Silver Sky. I absolutely love this guitar, everything is perfect with just one minor exception, I find the bridge pickup slightly too “thin” sounding… I have always installed a metal baseplate from Fralin or Callahan on the bridge pickup of every strat I have had, this is an inexpensive and simple modification that really makes the bridge pickup sound so much better. I was hoping to do the same thing to the Silver Sky I recently got but upon inspection I noticed that the bottom of the Silver Sky pickups are not like regular strat pickups, they are not completely flat at the bottom so it’s not possible to install a baseplate on them. Seems that the baseplate for the Silver Sky will have to have a part cutoff in the center in order for it to be able to sit flat on the bottom of the bridge pickup of the Silver Sky. Has anyone installed a baseplate on their Silver Sky? Thanks in advance.

Nope, never did. (I think mine doesn't need one), but have you tried a booster ?
I’ve used boosters before but they aren’t really my thing… I assume I just have to just get used to it… I don’t really wanna make any major modifications on this guitar, unless I figure out a way how to install the baseplate.

I have put a baseplate on my SE Silver Sky and i t works, its subtile but small improvement. I love the SE SS for the neck and pickups, i also have a US SS but i prefer the SE so the US is now backup
Next step is P90 in the bridge…..

I wonder if the bottom of the SE SS pickups are anything like the American version?

I think so but i have not opened the USA but SE also has these polepieces sticking out

Interesting.. so how did you manage to install the baseplate? The pole pieces make it impossible for the baseplate to sit flush on the pickup

But in order to do that has to line up flat on the bottom, I have done this mod to at least 5 strats and I know how do so but.. the base plate does not lay flat on the SS pickup bottom… :(
