PRS SE vs PRS Core string gauge

Hey! Quick question. Why do most Core guitars have 10-46 and SEs have 9-42? For example Tremonti vs Tremonti SE.

Probably because 9s are a bit easier to play. Make the entry level guitar easier to play and the buyer is more likely to stick with it, and but another guitar.

Cores used to come with 9s too, but they migrated to thicker because Paul believes the tone is better.

SEs are also more likely to be demo’d in a store, being compared to other brands. Someone who isn’t specifically looking for an SE might be more likely to view it favorably if it feels easier to play.

Or… It’s just what they have in stock in Indonesia.

That's because of the piezo. Core electrics with piezos come stock with 11s.
