Hello fellow PRS enthusiasts.
I`m in the market for a PRS SE Tremonti Custom.
Yesterday, I was in a music store and checked out all the tremonti customs they had (3).
To my disappointment all three guitars had quite a lot of fret buzz, especially between the 7th and 12th fret.
The E and A string were the worst but even the D and G string were affected.
I checked the neck relief but It looked fine to me. When I pressed down the first and last fret of the low E string I think it was around the thickness of a business card. A credit card did not fit at all. This measurement was taken at the 10th fret on the low E string.
This was almost identical in all three guitars as was the action which I would describe as medium low.
In my experience a setup like this should absolutely be the playable without fret buzz. I also tried to vary how hard I picked the strings but only with a very light touch I was able to have it buzz free.
Maybe this is normal due to brand new strings which are very thin (9-46 maybe). I never played lower than 10-49 and usually play 10-52.
Do you guys have any idea what could be the cause? Perhaps the trem? The wierd thing is that all three guitars had this issue.
Thanks for your input.
