The humble SE Std 24 has gone thru a few revisions over the years – neck wood, pickups, manufacturing plant etc.

I have a SE Std 24 Trans Blue, serial no. IC 00554 – made in Indonesia. I gather this is a 2016 model with mahogany neck, HFS pickups.

Can this be confirmed?

At some point SE Stds were ‘all mahogany’, and the 2017 models are with maple necks.

Cheers

The confusion continues with the 2018 SE Std - in the text "including a 24-fret mahogany neck (set neck construction),", and in the specs listing "bound maple".

The Indonesian-built Standard 24s all have maple necks. The earliest ones were built in late 2014. The reference to mahogany neck must be an error. There's no mention of a wood change on the 2018 intro page: http://prsguitars.com/blog/post/meet_the_new_2018_se_models. The updates for 2018 are the first I'm aware of for the Indonesian line.

Here's the archived 2016 model page:

The older Korean-built Standards are all mahogany and, if I remember right, they didn't make any 24 fret Standards. It was a 22 fret guitar built on the same platform they used for the SE EG, SE Soapbar II, and Santana SE at the time. I only remember seeing the old SE Standard in satin black and camouflage, and they came with metal knobs for some reason.

According to the site, the 24-fret SE Standards have maple necks, and the 22s have mahogany.

The 15 yr old in me still wants one of those camo ones!

That series of SE’s are so underrated. Whenever I get around to picking up my Soapbar II, I’m amazed at how dead simple it is and how complex the tone is.

Yeah, but it has wings, and it looks almost NOS. Usually a good standard has been played to the fret nubs. :)

Thanks for the clarification.
