My first PRS was an SE Std 22. (I fell in love with the neck). I did eventually swap out the pickups, but that’s a personal choice.
The combination of mahogany body, Wide/Fat neck, 25” scale and a stop tailpiece simply works for me.
Yes, it’s considered an entry level guitar. But the quality surpasses other entry-level makes and it’s still in my regular rotation. (along with 7 other PRS SE & S2 guitars I bought after getting the SE Std 22)
While I no longer play publicly anymore, I wouldn’t hesitate to use my SE Standard 22. It’s certainly gig-worthy.
A guitar that feels right in your hands is worth what you can afford, regardless of what others say.
