Good Morning!

This is my first post in the PRS community.

After watching Phil X on a you tube video explain why guitars with only bridge pick ups are "best" and the resulting google searches I stumbled upon words like P90 and SE One. I had been on the PRS website in the past but for me it was more like shopping in case I strike it rich somehow.
Further research showed me that the SE models are indeed affordable and a few clicks later the discontinued SE One was suddenly still available a half hours drive away at my "LGS" in the form of a new/old demo guitar in very new condition although at the time I didn't care or ask from what year it was. It is mine now.
It has a Serial number starting with a capital "i". From what I understand that means, made in 2008.
From When to When was the SE One produced and, during its years, was it tweaked in any way that would make one production year maybe more interesting than the others? I cannot find alot of official information on this exact model on the web.

Thanks in advance for any help one can offer!

There are 2 more versions available. a korina with birds and a seafoam green (rk signature, see Dane's post for pictures) They are all the same except the Korina version which is made of korina (surprise) instead of mahogany.
I like 'm a lot :D

Thanks! Phil X did a great job pointing something out that I found logical and appealing. Now i'm stuck in the wave... but whatever eh, surfs up!
So do you know if the SE One was actually introduced in 2008?

As far as I know the One was Introduced in 2007. (I bought my first "One" in november 2007}

FWIW I think 2012 was the last production year...it was korina and they actually had a bound neck with birds...used to have one that I got on a ridiculous internet site closeout deal. Miss that guitar...it was SOOO dirty...

Lots of SE One fans around here. Me included.

Count me in!

Theoretical question. If your local guitar shop had a new "old stock" 2008 SE One (Guitar only, no extras) with fingerprints and maybe a few very, very light scratches from people trying it out, what would it be worth in the US? I guess there would be the actual market value but I am more interested in knowing if this guitar enjoys a kind of cult status being a discontinued and quite unique model and as such would perhaps be worth more.

Someone told me recently that Carlos Santana was once asked which guitar he would want to have if he were to be stranded on a desert island (with electricity apparently) and he said the SE One. Please correct me if that is is not right.

Cheers,

Does anyone miss that they don't have a tone control? I know when Guitarist did the long term test they considered putting a dual concentric knob on it but that seems like a lot of hassle...

I'll have the red one please!!!

I don't miss the tone control. The great Eddie Van H. has the Striped Frankenstrat, it has a volume knob that has tone written on it. That says it all :adore:

I think the simple wiring makes for the very raw sound, which is where the "One" is king. However, I did miss the tone control. I also use a neck pickup a lot. So for me the Soapy 2 was a better P90 guitar. I do miss the One for some stuff, but two P90's and a tone pot work well for me with a lot of songs that need a creamy smooth tone with just a touch of grit.

I have a concentric pot giving me a tone control on mine. Love it. It's more of a set-n-forget feature. It didn't need it for years but for swapping a wide range of guitars in a live situation, it's nice to have the flexibility.

I just have one last question regarding the PRS SE One timeline.
Can anyone show me a PRS SE One Headstock with an H-Serialnumber?

I'll get back to my Pentatonics now.
