Hey guys, i'm new to PRS guitar and I would really like to get one! I'm thinking about buying a SE custom 24 and I would like to know what you guys think about this guitar. I could get a brand new one for 600$ at my local music store.

If you are looking at spending around $600 on a new guitar, the PRS SE Custom 24 in terms of quality and playability will only be matched by other PRS SE guitars at that price point. The rest is up to you - whether 24 frets is your thing, or if the thinner Wide-Thin neck carve is your thing compare to the wide-fat carves on some other models, whether you want a trem vs a stoptail, etc...

+1! All the SE's are fantastic. The Custom is probably the most versatile, but if check out the other models too!

Yeah i'm into the 24 frets thing but what I would like to know is if there is a big quality gap between the SE model and the other prs models? I know there is a difference of course but is the SE model for exemple is the equivalent of mexican fender for PRS?

I bought a SE C24 on Black Friday. Last week I compared my guitar to a PRS S2 C24. Except for the better looking top, neither I nor my rhythm player could detect anything that would justify the price difference. The necks were the same, the action was the same and they sounded practically identical through the Blackstar 2x12 we plugged them into.

As for comparing them to other American companies and their Asian counterparts- there is none in my limited experience. I am a huge Gibson Les Paul Historic fan. Epiphone? I know many will disagree but I think they're garbage. I've never played an Epi LP that I would consider buying. They don't sound or feel like the real thing. Imagine my shock when I picked up this Korean PRS. The fret job on my C24 is as good or better than most of the USA Gibsons I've played. And not a single fret sticking out the sides means I don't have to worry about cutting my fingers. And the nut is cut perfectly- she stays in tune even with extreme bending and the cold in my basement.

I work in a guitar store and I can tell you that the new Gibson's are not built as well as they used to be. Paint is poor and the fret jobs are poor. PRS SE's are amazing.

Man!! I think an se custom24 will be my next guitar!! I can't wait.

i'm not putting down PRS, but just keep in mind you are paying 500-600 for a guitar.... of course its going to better than epiphone,
but dont expect to be anything near and i mean anything near the real deal............ i havent even treid the real deal yet........ the se i have is good but it just leaves you wanting more, a LOT mo. BUT also remember this a prs se blows the **** out of a fender strat that cosrts me 1,200. i dont know if that counts but thats twice price of Se so i have to say it the se is my best guitar!
