PRS SE Custom 24 pickup problem?

Hello

I just got my PRS SE yesterday and amplified I notice some weird fast tremolo effect.
The amp has no effect, only a little overdrive.
When I hit a powerchord it sounds like wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow LOL.

My tele does not, so it's not the chord or amp.
I was thinking the pickups might be to high, but the closest pole is 2mm from the strings with the last fret fretted.

Anyone an idea what this might cause?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure, but to help other people get to the right diagnosis, does it happen in all positions (neck/bridge/both)? Does coil splitting affect it? Does moving or bouncing the guitar or cable affect it?

My guess would be an issue with the wiring or output jack, but that's just a guess since I've never seen that problem.

Yeah, I get that, too. I don't think it's the guitar, though, I think it's a characteristic of the RF "noise" in my apartment.

I get it on all my guitars.

Does it only happen when you play 2 of more notes at the same time (chords), of does it do it with single notes too?

If just with chords, you are not quite in tune.

It happens only with 2 notes and when distorted, so not when i play clean. Actually when i play power chords. It is so weird lol.

Since it only happens when you play two notes at the same time, that makes me think that you are not quite in tune. The wawawawa you hear is beat reinforcement and negation between the notes. It happens when pitches (or their harmonics) are very close to being in tune, but not quite. Do you have and use a good tuner?

It is also possible that you are fretting one string harder than the other causing it to go sharp with the same effect. If your PRS frets are taller than on your telecaster, this is a real possibility. Try pressing (fretting) only hard enough to get a clear note without buzzing.

I seriously doubt that it is a guitar setup or pickup problem.

Oh my goodness, I guess you are right!
I do not always tune up when I pickup the guitar at home.

When I tuned after I had this phenomen, it was pretty much gone. It's a new guitar and I didn't change the strings yet, so it doesn't stay in tune very well at the moment.

I will do that first when I have some time.
I'm in the middle of moving, so painting, painting, Saturday is D day.

How come this guitar is so 'sensitive' to this?
I mean I never had it with my tele or strat.
Is it the way it is setup or used materials?
The frets are pretty tall compared to the othes, so I might press the notes out of tune.

Thnak you for helping me out here. I will test some more the comming days.

PRS guitars are much higher quality instruments. They are sensitive enough to convey every nuance of your playing.

ALWAYS check your tuning before (and at intervals while) you play. Playing an improperly tuned instrument leads to sloppy technique and bad habits.

I started playing PRS guitars because I think they`re more inherently in tune than the other brands that I`ve played over the last 50 years. I have one Strat left because it`s not worth much. The rest of them are gone. IF you take it to a gig, and then come home and play brand X, you`ll be surprised at how much better the PRS are. They`re made to be played in proper tune, (You will find yourself tuning more and enjoying it more)

Yesterday was my first rehearsal with our band and I took the SE with me as main guitar.
OMG, so amazed!
I gave her new strings and tuned to pitch perfecly.
There were no more weird sounds going on anyhow.

I do have to be carefull while playing because I easily press the strings out of tune while fretting.
I am used to play 10's and 9's seem a bit slinky for my fingers.
The guitar is so sensitive and the dynamic range of the pickups is awesome.
Even if the SE has more or less budget pickups, I realy like them alot.
They are a little bright on the top strings, but that can be fixed.
Also with distortion it growls real nice.

Yep, I'm a fan!
