PRS SE Custom 24 Electric Guitar Amethyst

Hello there,

This is my first time on the forums. I am really close to pulling the trigger on this guitar. I like to do some research before I make a purchase however. I went into my local Guitar Center and played this and it was great. I really enjoyed it but I can't find any information on it whatsoever. Does anyone know, is this a Guitar Center exclusive? I haven't been able to find it anywhere else but Guitar Center and Musician's Friend. If anyone knows anything, I'd really love to know.

Is it a standard issue SE Custom 24 with a GC "exclusive" color?

From what I understand, any dealer can make a custom run of SE guitars in custom colors if they order enough quantity of that color.

I played one of these at a Guitar Center near me and I thought it was pretty cool. Not gonna lie though I like the blue one I got more, but guitars are subjective and to me it was a nice guitar. This color is also available from Reverb, Sweetwater, Musician's Friend among others, so not totally a standard color but not totally exclusive to Guitar Center.

Musician’s Friend is Guitar Center. Sweetwater has no listing for this color, and Reverb listings are from GC, so this is probably a GC exclusive color.

I see a few come out of Japan on eBay from time to time. Not worth the shipping, if you can find one in the US.

IIRC, amethyst used to be a standard SE color but isn't now.

It has that color with the naked back. It also has an ebony fretboard. This is what makes me wonder if it's an exclusive.

Does it make any difference if the guitar is a GC exclusive? The specs should all be the same. By the way, I have two - one sunburst and the other flame red - and they're great guitars.

The one on Musician’s Friend also has an ebony fretboard so its not a GC exclusive. It shouldn’t matter though if its the one you like.

Remember, "Musicians Friend" is "Guitar Center", same company. Musicians Friend is online only, while Guitar Center has a physical store.

It was more of a point of curiosity. I just found it odd I couldn't find any information on it.

The hard one to get would be the 30th Anniversary Quilt top Amethyst. Supposedly only 200 were made, and only released in the Europe-Asia market. There is one on Reverb.
