I know there's not too many of us out there that own the SC-J. I couldn't search SC-J 'cuz it was too short so please share threads you know of.

I'm considering a pickup swap to liven up the tone a bit with more sparkle on top and a bit of drive. I don't want a super hot pup though, just more clarity and balance. I play Americana rock, blues, 70's west-coast country rock, and of course Dead Tunes.

I've considered Filtertrons, 57 Classics (I have on hand), even Lollar Novel 90, Fralin Big Singles, and even Gold Foils.

Has anyone swapped around with pickups on their SC-J?

I had an SC-J for several years, and about the first thing I did with it was to yank the stock Archtop pickups. I've owned several PRS hollowbodies over the years, and I've never cared for the stock Archtop pickups.

First pickup swap was for Gibson Classic 57s, which were both an improvement and a really good match. Check this thread, post #5: https://forums.prsguitars.com/threads/changing-pu´s-on-a-prs-is-it-a-sin.28470/page-3#post-362013

I finally located a pair of 57/08s with hybrid hardware, and those were the best of all.

If you've already got a pair of Classic 57s, I wouldn't hesitate - drop 'em in and see if you're happier with the tone.
