What do you guys think?

I like SE 7 String guitars but I would love USA made S2 7 string custom 24 more.
The private stock 7 string is obviously out of my reach.
An affordable S2 7 string Custom 24 or Custom 22 guitar would be great.

S2 12 string would be great too.

I'm with you. I've been wanting a 7 for a while now. I have an EBMM JP12 BFR, and am considering a Majesty 7. But if PRS came out with an S2 7, I'd definitely play that before buying anything else, because making the switch to a 7 will be an adjustment, but if it plays like a PRS I'm confidant I'll love it. Heaven knows I love all my other PRS guitars.

I'd probably get one, but part of the problem is that the SE is already pretty darn good. The only way they could make it work is to get rid of the SE.

I have a Royal Blue SE 7, zero complaints about it. Absolutely zero. That being said, I think the S2 line would be a great bridge to the US for PRS 7 strings. The finish on my S2 feels so thin, like my old CEs, whereas SE paint feels like candy coating - looks perfect, but feels thicker/heavier to me.

If an S2 7 string turned up in Egyptian Gold, I'd start cursing because there goes more of my money...

They should release 7 string, 8 string and 12 string S2 Custom 24 guitars... or perhaps Vela would be good.

Imagine 7 string and 8 string version Vela with Floyd Rose.
This already makes my day.

The 7 SE model I'd imagine sells well. They just released it in red for this year as well. If they made an S2 version it would hurt the sales of the SE which probably sells enough for them to keep it in production. Like the original MMSE baritone, it's a very slim niche market

Actually, I just thought of something else -- they could make one or two crucial yet minor changes -- like making it 22 fret instead of 24 fret, a singlecut instead of a doublecut, and maybe the scale length.

Then I'd definitely be on board.

Yes.. but unfortunately, SE 7 String guitars come with Wide Thin neck profile... which is much thinner than Pattern Regular neck on core USA PRS models.
What a bummer.......

Not necessarily..

The S2 models and SE models coexist, even though there is overlap in features and styles. My thought is to make a 7 string CE and put a 1000 series floyd on it. Based on what the current CE pricing is, you could probably do it for a MAP of $2400 or so. That gets people a PRS USA made 7 string, a bit better than S2 but not the exorbitant price tag you'd pay for a full blown core model.

Not everyone wants a Floyd. Have you used a PRS trem? Far superior. (IMHO.)

And I was talking about market -- 7 string guitars are a niche market. The ones that overlap (there are models that are in all three) are the bigger sellers. I honestly don't know the numbers, but if you look at the number of guitarists that will ask, in all seriousness, what you want that extra string for, you'll get an idea just how much smaller the market is.

I view it differently. Companies like Ibanez, Music Man, and Keisel/Carvin are making their living off extended range guitars. Its a lot bigger market than you may think.

I only mentioned the floyd because its an off the shelf product and its extremely good quality.

Not going to argue with that. I should probably shut up anyway, since I don't speak for PRS.

Yes, many people find Floyd Rose tremolos desirable, I'll put that out there, too. I did, until I got one. I'm very spoiled by PRS trems.

Nice idea but $2400 is too high as well... I like $1k range S2 price tag more.
Private stock 7 string ($8k) is impossible to afford.
S2 7 String makes a lot of sense.. They should do this.
