fellow prs fans .
I have had several PRSSE Guitars over the last couple years. The two I have left are a se DGT and a Sas . I also have a 10th anniversary custom 24. Not long ago I got a great deal from PRO sound on a 2408 and I thought this is ideal. for what I do. I’m a worship guitarist I alternate between my three pick up Guitars.( Strat, Carvin and prestige.). And several two pick up Guitars that I have.
It’s a great looking guitar very well-made a lot of tone options but honestly after playing it for the last two months, I still like my SEDGT better. I like the bridge pu better I like the neck split better. The bridge -neck split is fairly
equal. And I definitely like my 10th anniversary custom 24 better. The 2408 is lacking for me . the only plus sound on this guitar is the bridge -neck in hum mode.
The guitar quality is excellent and it’s a gorgeous guitar. Just a pick up lack personality. It seems like a do it all guitar with no strengths .most guitars have a weak tone but this one seems to have many as far as the pickups go..
I wanted to love this guitar. I kept trying to convince myself to keep it. I even did my maintenance on it this last weekend polishing the frets checking the set up into nation changing the strings polishing it up and then I played it at practice this week and it’s just not doing it for me. It’s sort of like going on a date with a great looking woman. ( which I did when I was dating.) but there’s no sparks..
Anybody else have any thoughts on the 2408 pick ups?

Try raising and lowering both the pickups and the polepieces. I find that there’s a very definite sweet spot depending on the sound you’re looking for. Also remember to change the amp settings. I’m continually surprised that people don’t think to do that. I do like the toggle switch setup more than any other.

That’s what drew me to. This was the multitude of sounds. I’m a junkie for that. I like being able to take one guitar for a set and get different tones out of it.
I haven’t adjusted the pole pieces much a couple of them, but I’ve adjusted the pick up up and down.
One thing I’ve noticed is there’s a resistor with a lower value on the neck pick up. I’m thinking if I change that to a higher resistance, then I will get more sound out of the split in the neck. In fact, I’m quite sure of it. I’m just wonder if it’s going affect some of the position to split sounds too much.

Seems to be a fairly common critique of the 408 style pickup guitars that they are jacks of all trades but masters of none…

I think the Studio model might be better for what you’re trying to get out of your guitar. Maybe look into a used S2 Studio (since those are discontinued)

If you haven't gotten what you want even after adjusting the pickups, there's nothing wrong with looking into replacing them. Tons of options that you might be happier with, and considering the (relatively) low cost of an SE, it's not too much of a burden to spend a bit more to make it perfect.
Oh, and I too have dated many great looking women
