There's a person selling a private stock PRS. It has serial number and even has Paul Reed Smith signature. The truss rod is throwing me off. Would the truss rod look like this? I'm concerned cause the guitar is gorgeous but not sure if it's genuine. Seller said he had guitar checked out at a few shops and they confirmed it was a real private stock? Please help. Attached are some pics.
Thanks

I really do hope there aren't people who buy these thinking they're the real thing.

It's also frightening to see how much better they've gotten over the years, looks wise anyway.

There are so many things wrong that I don't know where to begin... body shape and contours/carves, cutaway, knobs, bridge, pickups... etc...

2011 serial # with a 2009 PS production date is a bit of a red flag too....

I have stay I feel icky about this post. The op has been active since 2013 but only 38 post. Nothing negative intended toward op, but this does not seem up to snuff. :vroam::vroam:

I dont understand the post to the point the op could have easily check the prs site or eBay or reverb and see that is fake.

Smh! Thanks guys! I kinda feel like a fool for even thinking it was real.

Don't! The first thing I did was went and checked mine, based on the very useful information in this thread.

Forgers are certainly getting more sophisticated, though as someone else pointed out, there are so many things wrong with that guitar that it literally screams "forgery!"

Everything is wrong on it, from 100% of the hardware, to the date, to the body carves...if PRS wanted to, they could have it confiscated. It's completely illegal.

Respectfully I beg to differ, low post count is not an indicator that the OP is dodgy. I love this website and think PS Friday is the best thing. I do not post here frequently but do have a much higher count on an Australian bass website.

The OP is correct to post as I find the amount of fakes alarming, I have been ripped off when trying to buy I assume a genuine PS 513 from the UK and find posts like this helpful. I contacted PRS and was content that the guitar was as it was advertised, due to the tyranny of distance upon non shipment there was little I could do.

Noted, and I am glad folks can help on the sight, just my opinion and again not intended to be mean. Just find it off, with so many avenues to check, it can be so difficult to validate. This is based of the op post of the guitar. I can not comment on your or others experience. Only on what is being posted. Acces to the forum means access to psf thread and the many examples of what a ps is and how it looks. Of course op can ask and he got his answer. And any member can. Just felt off to me.
