PRS Private Stock Archtop ii Demo

You’ve got some effortless chops and beautiful tone. That sounds how I wish I could sound. That axe would be my dream jazz box.

Sounded great. I’d love to have an archtop, but in the meantime I’ll just listen to you playing this one. Perhaps someone here purchased that one!

I am wondering if you've played any of the SE Hollowbodies? If so how would they compare to the really nice tone from the archtop. I assume the archtop is deeper so that would likely have a significant effect, but the hollowbodies have a version of the 58/15 and I have heard that they have a similar construction, in that they're hollow not semi-hollow.

I have been studying with a jazz teacher for about 18 months, and since I was starting form close to zero, I would never be able to justify any core series guitar, but I could see myself moving from my Ibanez semi-hollow to an SE hollowbody.

Hi, I haven't had the chance to play the new SE Hollowbodies yet, but I own a Hollowbody spruce and have played numerous other PRS hollowbody 1's 2s, JA-15, Singlecut Jumbo Archtop, regular production model archtops etc...The Archtop line really has a sound of its own. it is deeper and has a more more deep sound. I don't think the SE Hollowbody will sound like it but it might still be a really nice guitar and highly suitable for jazz. A guy over on the gear page just bought one and really liked it(he also own a core Spruce Hollowbody similar to mine).
The pickups has an effect on the guitars tone, but the construction, size and wood combo even more IMO:
Check out an SE, I'd love to try one.

Thanks! Whoever bought it is a lucky guy/girl. I also demoed another private stock arch up there, that one had a spruce top.
I think the production model archtops aren't far off in terms of feel and sound. It's too bad that PRS discontinued that line so early.
I should have jumped on one I tried with a spruce top, maple back and Brazilian board.

I have a hollowbody spruce top, and it’s a great guitar! I’d love to try an archtop configured the same way.
