Thanks for posting this, Shawn. Paul is an incredibly interesting guy to me and his story honestly makes me feel proud to be playing PRS guitars.

I also love seeing the folks in the factory doing their jobs. God, that makes me jealous!

Good stuff. I was talking with Kate (my other half) just last night about my small collection of PRSi. I have PRS guitars from 1988 to 2012. I was saying that I think history will show PRSH to be the key to making what will be thought of as industry moving instruments over his 30+ years in business. At some point he is going to retire and others will run the company. If history repeats itself (and it almost always does), the #3 guitar maker will at some point follow numbers 1 and 2. Business decisions will take precedence over musicality. If that happens I think the guitars made while he was steering the ship will be thought of as the guitars of choice. I'm thankful I found PRS guitars while he is involved in creating them.

I really enjoyed this; not only is it informative and cool, it's nicely shot, edited and even the audio is excellent.

Something struck me when Paul said he doesn't know what it is, but he has an ability to visualize things in three spatial dimensions. People sometimes ask me how I compose music that works for picture, and my answer always is, "I don't know why, but show me picture and I have an intuitive sense of what music will work with it." Certainly what we know, and what we have studied, plays a big role in what we do, but I think a strong intuitive sense is part of creating art.

Paul is a person who doesn't just create objects. His guitars are three-dimenstional art in the auditory, feel, and visual sense. That's why I love them.

We are truly fortunate the have the founder still at the helm. Not many 28 year old companies can claim that distinction. I like to think that Paul has put the right people in place that if he ever decided to retire, the company would still operate by the core principles that brought us to this point. Bean counters didn’t make PRS what it is today and everyone working at the factory knows it. I held many jobs before coming to PRS and I can honestly say I’ve never worked with a more dedicated, passionate, intelligent and hardworking crew in my life. Hopefully the attitude and atmosphere around PRS will never change, even after Paul hands the reins over to the next generation.

Kudos to this comment. "Bean counters" often lose sight of the factors that lead to success. I've seen it in many industries. This is just one more reason I go out of my way to support PRS.

Great vid. Loved it. I still have this PRS dvd from like 10 years ago, that is great. I would love to see a new one come out some time on Blu-ray that has all the new facets of the factory. Probably not realistic since everyone just watches everything on youtube these days. I love all the stuff on the PRS youtube page as well.
