hi guys, new to this forum and thought I’d say hello,I own a few PRS Guitars a 20th anniversary custom 22 10 top in vintage natural a stripped 58 in gold wrap and a recently acquired sc250 NOS 10 top with birds, my quandary is with the latter and the quality and plainness of the case it was supplied in :-( it seems to be made porta rico and I was always under the impression that prs used G&G? This case isn’t bad quality by any means but giving the price of the guitar I thought it would of come in something a little more exclusive (considering my friends se has the same case albeit bought separately) it would be nice if the 10 tops with birds came in something a little more special:-( don’t know what the rest of your thoughts are?

Never had a problem with PRS cases, other than they are stinkin' heavy! I always throw mine in a PRS gig bag when I have to take it somewhere.

Not sure if they are G&G (Don't think there's any mention in the cases) , but they've always held up well for me...but I'm by no means a travelling, gigging musician. PRS SE Gig bags are rockin'.
I do love that they recently (last few years) went to three "U" shaped latches, vs. the older method, where you would move the slide button to the side to release the latch.
These seam to break sooner than the other, newer "U" shaped latches.

I don't know who makes/made them, but the new ones I have seem to be on par with my memory of the one that came with my '98. Well made. Heavy. They just take up space under the bed, so a nicer case isn't a value-add for me.

You do get an upgraded case with Wood Library, Artist Package, and Private Stock guitars.

The paisley case is a different quality from what I can see, I just think with the extra cost of 10 top and birds the case should be upgraded also, something to separate them a bit I suppose, the multi fit case is definitely lower quality

Birds come standard on everything in the Core line now, except for the DGT. 10 top is a nice upgrade, and certainly not cheap, but it doesn't raise a guitar above Core line status. With Wood Library or Artist Package, you pay a premium for materials above and beyond Core. A nicer case is part of that upgraded package.

I agree with other reply. Their big cases weigh a ton. I do have a Private Stock that is insanely gorgeous that I like to show off bu man is it heavy. I too bought a PRS gig bag and it's a game changer. Lite and easy to tote and I even trust my P Stock with it if I'm not traveling a bunch. Get the gig bag.

I agree with the private stock wood library comments but these new cases are not the same as the old ones they are gww, just expect such an expensive instrument to come in an equally expensive case that’s all

The case that came with my Private Stock as I mentioned is incredibly beautiful with a killer eagle stitched on the inside. Almost too nice to take out of the house which is why I'm using either my PRS gig bag or sometimes one of my older cases but again, the big boys are very heavy. Great protection for guitar but will test your strength.

My 25th Mira came with a leather bound PRS case... I have yet to use it for anything outside the house, looks great but weighs a TON. PRS gig bags all the way!

I don’t disagree with any of the comments I was just a little surprised at the lack of prestige the case presents considering the price, even a USA standard fender Stratocaster comes in a branded g&g case that’s all, and I am disappointed that the case is a copy of a g&g case now not an original:-( seems like corner cutting

Some of the Costa Rica-made Gibson Historic cases were really very good. Sorry yours isn't more deluxe but they're capable of making some excellent cases down there. I imagine that (as with any overseas manufacture) much hinges on what was specified.

I do understand that but the case is an almost exact replica of a g&g case, if it was a different style I don’t think it would bother me as much or if it came with an s2 for that matter, Just seems like corner cutting as I’ve previously said

I don’t minimize your feeling at all on this, but if it really bothers you that much, why did you buy the guitar? If the case is that much of an issue for you, why not negotiate a better price with your dealer (citing the case) and then buy the case of your dreams with the savings?

Or have the dealer throw in the case of your dreams, the marginal cost to him is much less since he is only out the wholesale price of the case.

Very, very few retail prices are set in stone.
