Hi sorry if this is posted in the wrong place. Anyway I have a Prs Mt15 with 5881 power tubes and I would like to put in 6l6s. Am I able to do this? I know the older Mt15s had 6l6s but not sure if they rebiased the amp just for 5881s or of they are just interchangeable? Any help is extremely appreciated I really don't want to cause any damage. Thanks!

I believe you'll want to rebias, even with a new set of the same type you would want to do that. Not sure what the spec is for 6L6, maybe someone can chime in, otherwise I'm sure you could email customer service. Although I'm not sure that swap would change the tone a whole lot, not to mention good luck finding some right now!

Of course you can swap them, I have the 6L6's (original + another pair) and it's money. Just rebias with a small screwdriver on the back to around 30mA and you are set. You can go hotter, but the life of the tubes could be reduced ... they say.
Thanks so much!

I totally forgot about that, I just went and checked out some web shops I use for buying tubes and it's a lot of empty shelves ... damn!

Yeah, 6L6's are especially tough to find right now. Fortunately, JJ makes a nice 6L6, so they'll be theoretically available... it's just finding them.
