PRS/Mann Made Locking Tuners?

Hi, new to the forum and I'm sure the topic of locking tuners has probably been beaten into the ground. I recently bought a PRS Tremonti SE Custom. I love this thing! But I'm wanting to put a set of locking tuners in as it has a Trem. That said I've done a bunch of research and want to try to stay with PRS(style) tuners. Read about these Mann Made drop in Locking Phase II style tuners for SE models. Two questions.

1) Has anyone used or has had experience with them and what was your take on them?

And 2) what size Button do they use? I'm assuming they run the standard SE button as from what I can tell they are "modified" SE tuners. I want to find a set of Rosewood button down by the road and would like to buy the the correct tuners.

I really don't want to drill holes if I can avoid it. Also I've seen S2 style locking tuners that don't have screws. How does everyone like them and can they drop in an SE as well?

Forgive my ignorance on the subject.

These are great...John adds a locking screw to a conventional SE tuner. I watched him make the mod to my set. He can mod your existing tuners, he has tuners ready to go...I think he even will give a credit for your existing SE tuners. Check him out at

Sorry...couldn't find the trade in info on his site...

So I can call and buy some ready to go?

And any info on the tuning buttons for SE style tuners or if those use different buttons what are replacement options?

Just make the call. John makes a fine product and these are a perfect example. I just had my first set made and installed on my SE245. They are a great way to recycle your existing, well made tuners, guarantee a perfect fit, and save some money over buying some Phase IIs. They should come from the factory with these on. Highly recommended.

I'll give them a ring. I appreciate all the advice!

I'd suggest you snag a set of Mann-Modified SE tuners, and never look back!

I have a set of these on my three SE models, and they're absolutely awesome. Rock-solid, in every way.

At one time, I had an SE Tremonti, and put Grover 406c tuners on it. They worked fine..and no drilling required...but didn't feel nearly as well built as the Manns.

The Mann tuners are drop-in (of course), and I don't think you'll find a set better suited to your guitar ANYWHERE.

Buy a set, and have fun!!

While the off topic chatter was rather interesting (I was on the Target website earlier tonight!), to the OP I say that you need to get the Mannmade modified tuners!

I have a set on my SE Tremonti Custom and they are great! Solid, reliable, and look great with a drop in install. No extra holes, no reaming, just perfect!

I highly recommend these for any SE Trem user!

Not when you wanna buy guitars. :(
No, no, no...you've got it all wrong. You use the Target cards to buy diapers and groceries, then use the diaper and grocery money to buy guitars. See??!! Simple!

What the fu'hell is up with the Adam Levine picks at $1 each? Who do they think they are, Gravity?

Yeah I'm pretty set on them now. Called them(no answer) and emailed them. Had a few questions on the buttons and if they're drop in for ALL SE models basically. I want to keep my originals so I'll probably get a set of them ready to ship if possible.

What year is your Tremonti SE? I imagine the tuners haven't changed much dimension wise over the years. Maybe I'm being too cautious.

@Ian302 my SE Tremonti Custom is a 2013 in Gray Black. Like you, I doubt that the specs have changed much, if at all, over the years.

@BMiller thank you for your info. Yeah not much has Changed short of cosmetic stuff. I take it you ordered your set ready to go without shipping your stock ones in?
