Hello. I installed a set of 59/09s in my CE24 and I do love them a lot . I sometimes wish I had a touch more oomph to palm mutes however.

I was thinking of swapping the bridge to an \m/. Would it be too bright in e standard. I do at times drop down to drop c# also

My Ms are in E standard, not "to bright" for me. It's my E and drop D guitar, so I never really tried it with a lower tunings

What would you say these overall tone is on the pickup, especially compared to the 59/09? And does it roll back and clean up to low gain well?
There's a lot of 59/09 fans on the forum, but I just didn't like them much, IMO 59/09 has been brighter and the midrange was sitting somewhere else. My Ms are the TCI alnico square bobins, so not sure how will they compare to what you got, but the bridge is solid, lower mid dominant, with lots of cut and note separation. The neck is round with good balance of tight lows and plesent hight, it's articulate and splits like a mofo. I'm not a master of volume swells or cleanup, but it ain't sucks

The \m/ pickups are really named incorrectly. They are not high gain shredders like the name would suggest. If you are looking for a hot PRS pickup I think the HFS is the only one that is currently sold. Maybe look for a Dragon II pickup used. I swapped those out of my CU22 because I wanted something a bit more tame. I struggled with those. If I was playing high gain stuff I may have liked them more. Another one to look for is the Tremonti pickup. You will probably have to find that one used.

The \m/’s are fairly dark, a bit scooped, smooth, high output with a fairly compressed feel. Very forgiving. There are hotter pickups out there but \m/’s are definitely not at PAF output level. I don’t think they are incorrectly named, but they are maybe not great for djent or similar styles. Too little cut and too recessed in the mids for that I would say.

Bang on opposite to my experience
It’s all relative of course. They are darker than a typical PAF and darker than many modern humbuckers aimed at metal players, like many recent Bare Knuckles, Duncan Nazgul and the Lundgren M6 to name a few. It’s like the opposite of a Bare Knuckles Aftermath for example, which is bright with a recessed low end and a very pronounced midrange. Two very different takes on a high output pickup.

Yeah, that for sure. I just feel like calling Ms compressed is a bit unfair; they are the most lively moderate to high output pickups I ever tried.
