I'm interested in putting a PRS metal bridge pickup in a guitar, but using a chrome covered pickup would just look wrong. Is there someplace that I'm missing where I could buy one of the ones that they use on the stock core model or am I just stuck trying to shop through used stuff?

An Uncovered Pickup Is No Different Than A Covered Pickup Aside From The Fact It Is Covered With A Pickup Cover.

If You Want The Uncovered Look, Simply Desolder The Pickup Cover And You Will Have A Beautiful Uncovered Pickup Awaiting Underneath Said Cover.

Easy Fix, Be At Peace About It.

I'm pretty sure the bobbins under the covers are not the squabbins on normal uncovered PRS pickups. There's just no way they'd fit.

So, no, it's not likely to look the same.

OP never mentioned squabbins. Heck, didn't even mention what guitar. It's not squabbin underneath, those are meant to fill the ring like covered pickups. Normal pickups or bobbins under the cover.

If you want the square-bobbins, you need to be patient on reverb/ebay. They pop up. It took me 2 years to find a perfect set, though. Mind that new TCI Metals have a different magnet composition and may sound completely different to what you used to
How did the treble pickup change? I have a TCI one. Was the original hotter or louder?

Can't compare. Never had the old \m/s. The PRS customer service guy was impossible to drag info from. Basically played trade secret card on me. Either way, they became my favourite PRS pickups, and the long verb/bay hunt was worth it

I have the 85/15 TCI Bass + \m/ TCI Trebel. I like how clear they are. I will try to get one uncovered m, but its very very rare (especially that I need the TCI).

They are out there. I slept on one set and made no such mistake on the second one.

I have the 85/15 bass on my other guitar, and they are night and day EQ-wise, with \m/ having more note separation and tighter lows. And it splits world better. 85/15 neck is not, and never was a pickup I liked very much
