Hello everyone,

I have one PRS Santana SE,
and the rare strato PRS SE EG.

The Santana SE comes with a Nylon Levys strap. The EG came without one so I put it a cheap one long time ago.

I have been searching for leather straps for the EG, and (or for the Santana aswell)

I found there is a leather Levys one price 21 (eur) 2.5 inches width https://www.amazon.es/dp/B000XPPURU?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Here in Spain PRS are not that easy to find in stock so I found this one, also 2.5 inches width. It cost 71.9 (eur), that is near 4x the price of the Levys.

So my question is, do you have experience with this models? Are relation with the confort or padded leather or just price for "birds" and pay PRS brand?

Thank you in advance.

I own Levy’s and Perri’s guitar straps. Both are top notch companies, and they have budget models as well as some expensive high end stuff.
Get the best strap in your budget range.

I wouldn’t spend more for the name on a strap. I’d find a strap that is the right length, width, and material and feels right to you. Just being leather doesn’t say much. There’s good leather, bad leather, and a lot of mediocre leather in between the two.

Had both, didn't like them, to be honest.

Went back to it:

^Stays on. Feels great. Cool designs :D

I have a ton of the Levy’s 2.5” Suede straps. I’ve been using them for the last 20 years. I guess you can say that I like them.

yes, I´m a bit confused.
I have the doubt about if the PRS is more "padded" or not than the Levys leather.

In the other hand, since my SE EG is white, on standard strap, there is the white option.

The reviews about that Levys leather say it´s ok but small hole, and the surface the touch the cloth doesn´t slide so is a bit unconfortable because fix to the cloth.
Reviews of the PRS say is ok and good quality but expensive.
So still in doubt.

Any other ideas/opinions?

I already ordedered it on amazon, so I can check them. I suppose many guys can give me a general opinion since a lots of models/brands and types of leather.
The PRS is not easy to get here in Spain, so thats a bit more expensive for that.
I can put my hands on it, and return it, but still have no experience or reference about alternatives.
I guess many here have tried different types, and can give me an idea of pros and cons.

For example, the strap that came with the Santana Se, may be like this one https://www.amazon.es/dp/B000XPRX5C/ref=twister_B0CHW6MJPH?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Says, cotton there. 5cm instead 6.5 cm.
I think experience of long time trying different types from your opinions can be as clarify for me than me just put it 5 minutes on a store.
I suspect long term use and comparing may be a better knowledge and feedback. Maybve I´m wrong..

One of the details I look for in a strap, is reinforcment stiching around the button holes and adjustment slots.
Based on that, of the two you bought, I would prefer the Levys.

These are the PRS straps I use on my PRSs.

Thank you for the feedback.

The description of the PRS I bought said it was "padded" and confortable to believe, so I guess if that´s marketing or not?
I guess if there is difference on confort between 5cm cotton versus 6.5 cm leather?

The one you sent me also is available on amazon Spain (not cheap) but is 2", same as the cotton one from Levys.
So that make me wonder if width makes it more confortable or not?
Are the PRS padded?
Or is just all subjective?

I was expecting more clear difference between materials (cotton versus leather), or models , I thought PRS should be more padded than the Levys.
So do you think there is no more padded or confort from the PRS then the Levys?
And what about any of this two compared two the standard cotton Levys?

I should expect a noticecable difference.

The Santana SE came with a standard one Levys. I thought that leather should be more confortable for the weight of the guitar. But I like better the way of lenght adjust of standard ones. Also standard cotton there is white color, same color as guitar.

But I expected any of the leather should give me more confort for weight (even the adjust lenght is more cumbersome.

I don't think either one you bought is padded.
The PRS will be more supple and softer leather. It appears to have the same leather as my straps.
The one I have is padded, though.

I'm a small guy; I prefer a 2"-2.5" strap. Wide straps feel like they want to fall off my shoulder. I never felt like a wider strap did anything to distribute the weight.

Being a small guy, I adjust my straps short and high. The adjustment buckle on a cotton strap rides on my shoulder blade.

How do you know your is padded?
Description doesn't specify it..
Is the one you linked?
It is very thin...
You can see it from the side and feel it when you squeeze it.
It's not like your typical padded strap.

The one on the right is my PRS strap. The one on the left is a typical padded strap by Taylor.

What about this one?

Have just picked the Prs bought will upload pics

I have no experience with that one...first time I've seen it. It's not real leather either.
I do like the adjustment design with the Chicago screws. L&M Products has a similar design they call the 'Hidden Tail'. It's similar to one of my favorite straps; a Mountain Learherworks strap I bought from Stew-Mac in the early 90s.
It's a lot cleaner looking.

I have gone through a lot of straps trying to figure out what I like and don't like.

The PRS strap you linked doesn't appear to have any padding. It's just leather.

PRS makes several different straps. https://us.prsaccessories.com/collections/straps/products/leather-birds-strap

I have a couple. Their Signature strap, which does have padding. I don't use it often, as the leather isn't the most supple and I've got other straps that feel better. If I used it for years and it was absolutely worn in, maybe it would be more to my liking. That's not gonna happen. PRS did replace it for me because of a cut I discovered in the leather. The second one isn't very supple, either.

I also have the PRS metal studded strap, which I got when they were clearing them out inexpensively. It's fun and funny, with slightly softer leather. It's not one I use often, either.

Straps are such a personal thing. Don't worry about the brand. Worry about how it feels and how it fits you, both in style and comfort. Holes can be enlarged.

What you mean "cleaner looking"?
This model?
or you refer to the similar adjustment design models you bought?
