So I needed to replace the Tone/Coil Split pot on the McCarthy. It had some slack when you went clockwise/counterclock wise that was driving me crazy, not much but just enough to bother me. The challenge was to quickly and safely remove the knob. Here's the tool:

And before and after:

Works perfectly as designed. A gentle vertical tug and it's off. No dents, scratches or worries.

Buy one and share with your friends and have a 'pot changing' party.

So no issues at all? I might get one of those. Subtle cracks in 3 of the 4 knobs on my R9 when I removed them using a microfiber towel.

Well there would be the problem if a knob was installed and pushed so far down that it's flush with the top or a pickguard.

You have to be able to get the small feet under it, but it worked for me in a couple of seconds.

cool tool

Small automotive trim tool used for interiors and other plastic rivets and parts. Made of vinyl. Like a wide screwdriver with a U-shaped cutout to slip under the knob and past the pot.
