I received an email from PRS - They (PRS) are going to be at Sam Ashe in San Diego next Saturday Nov 10th. I think I am going to make the hour drive down the coast to the store (assuming no traffic - which is not a given ;)). I have never had a chance to play through a PRS amp & maybe I will be able to play a few.....Hopefully.

I like to play blues and smooth jazz for the most part (mostly clean - sometimes with light OD or clean boost) . What PRS amps would you recommend I try to take for a test run?

Hope to see some of you there.

The only amps I can think of that you might not be as into are the Archon and MT15, although both have stellar clean channels. Check out the JMOD, DG30/50, Custom 20/50, Sonzera, and as mentioned above, HX/DA. Any could be used for your style, it’s just a question of that flavor you like.

Oh, and have fun!

I promise to check out as many amps as they will let me....and promise to have fun as well

Well made it to San Diego on Saturday & got to play through some amps I probably will never get to play though again - DG Custom 30 and the J-Mod 100. Both amps sounded great but too much power for my needs (and the J-MOD maybe just a tad too expensive for my budget ;)). If you are ever in the Dan Diego area, you will want to check out the Sam Ash store. Lots of guitar & amp inventory in all price ranges. The one amp I was hoping would be there was the Custom 20 but unfortunately not there at the store. I also got to play the MT 15 - If you like gain, you will like this amp.

Oh - Also got to play a ten top SC 594 soapbar. This is one awesome guitar! Almost walked out with it, but a well made, high quality, & reliable tube amp 15-20 watts that delivers a nice warm clean tone is 1st priority.

Also learned that there will be "announcements" forthcoming shortly from PRS (NAMM is not that far around the corner) when I talked to the PRS rep about new guitars.......
