Hello out there,
I was wondering if anyone knew if PRS has made many fretless bass necks. I have a custom made electric bass from 1980 that was made by a great maker in Fairfax VA. However he did not want to make a fretless neck. The person making the bass for me took a beautiful piece of curly maple out to a very young PRS and he made a amazing fretless neck in the style of a 60's era Fender Jazz Bass. In the ads for basses I have seen on the website, I have not seen any fretless basses.

I took the bass out to a gig that the PRS band was playing last year and showed it to Paul. He remembered the neck right away and signed it for me. There were a ton of people there asking questions so I didn't get a chance to ask him if he had made any other fretless necks. I was just wondering if there were any others out there or is mine the only one?

Yessir...as a matter of fact, I owned one just like the one pictured on the back of an early Michael Manring album...it was the 3 pickup version, with 4th hum cancellor mounted to the back. All black, no fret markers on the board, just side dots. I actually emailed Mike Deeley couple weeks back and asked about fretless...he said would be PS. They could offer fretless on the Graingers...hmmmm

Ugh....I'm not even a bass player, and I already have pre-mature e over this. Yer killin' me dude!

I'm no bass player but I have always loved this:
