I have an opprtunity to get a new DGT standard at a great price.
But I don't really like the color ... its that power blue.
I really would like to try it out tone wise. I do love mahogany guitars!
Think I'd have any trouble selling it for say $1900.00 if I didn't like it?

You might like it if you saw it in person. Great guitars for sure....

Sorry can't discu prices on here

I'd love a DGT standard in that color! Price would be the upper end of a used range. I think you would have to come down a little.

If you don't like the color, you'll sell it. And if you sell it, you'll lose money. If you lose money selling it, the guitar is no longer a bargain.

Spend a few extra bucks and get what you really want in the first place.

Good advice guys.
Thank you.
I guess I could ask to try it. And return it if it's not what I want. But then I'd have to pay return shipping.

Trick question, right? If you already have a maple top guitar, a Standard is a must. Go for it!

Okay, I might catch some flak for this but have you tried a DGT? I, for one, *really* don't like how the PUs sound.

I *love* Powder Blue, its one of the cool old Fender colors that I wish PRS would do more of. That said.......I will have a Powder Blue DGT standard up FS later this weekend. At at lower price than that. Shameless plug.

Given the current used market--particularly for upper end guitars--I think you would have trouble selling a used DGT Standard for that price. Also, since you mentioned return shipping I'm guessing it's not local. In that case I suggest just finding the one you really want; I've seen quite a few nice looking DGTs listed, particularly at some well-known dealers who also sell a lot of used guitars. Of course ideally you have a good local PRS dealer, but if not, there are some great ones that ship.

I would not buy a new guitar I did not like. New guitars are like new cars - once the leave the showroom floor they depreciate in value.

Maybe we should start a thread on guitar selection - What people like for in order of priority ( playability, tone , quality, aesthetics, etc)when considering a guitar purchase (and what leads people to buy PRS guitars vs others).
