man we’re not seeing a lot of those prices this side of the pond
What are you guys seeing?man we’re not seeing a lot of those prices this side of the pond
That is crazy.Depends where you look but used gear and especially PRS in Europe is steep 2.5-5k is usually what I see for Core models in good shape
for sure cheaper there but once you lump on the import taxes and shipping it kind of balances - not checked LP used for a long time, as always a lot of expectant buyers not realising that supply outweighs demandThat is crazy.
How about Gibsons?
In the USA they are inflated, used Standards are $2000-$2200 here
they can ask, but I can't see hem getting that, I don't care where they are.As an example of the expectation someone is selling a 20th CU22 not special top dragons II and they’re asking north of 3k , hell I probably paid way above for my CU24 10Top but it spoke and I couldn’t be happier with it, it’s a tremendous instrument
Used core. What would you say the point of diminishing returns on a PRS is? Is a 5k one that much better than a 3k? I know it's subjective. But what's a good price point that gets you all the great things about a PRS without going into crazy land (5k+)?
I was trying to sell my 2000 PRS Custom 24 Core with Bird Inlays (not a 10 top) and asking $1900 and the best offer I got was $1500 or $1600.What would you say the point of diminishing returns on a PRS is? Sad but true. Especially the CU24 depreciates rather steeply, at least where I live. Bought my 57/08 ltd CU24 as a NOS from the store after sitting there for 10 yrs. Got a good deal, like end of the nineties pricing, but it speaks volumes that guitar did not sell and would not fetch a great price if I would decide to flip it.I was trying to sell my 2000 PRS Custom 24 Core with Bird Inlays (not a 10 top) and asking $1900 and the best offer I got was $1500 or $1600.
It is a great guitar, just not a Brand New Great Guitar.
There was no way I was letting it go for $1600.
I might have accepted $1750, definitely $1800 if that gives you an idea of resale value.
I would never buy a PRS Brand New for $4690, maybe $3500-$3700, but $4690? Look for a 20% off sale, and call and have them extend it to PRS, they probably will, but can't advertise it.
I would say on a Newer 10 top model I wouldn't pay more than $2500-$2700 on a pre-owned model, but that is just me.
PRS are kind of like Jaguar automobiles, they depreciate as soon as you buy them.
Of course you will see a lot of used PRS selling for more than that, but you will also notice they just sit there on the sites.
Bottom line, if I were in the market for a PRS Custom 24 core model, I would look for a used one at a low price.
Sub $2000 for one in great condition, grab it, if you love it you can always trade up for one with the exact specs you are looking for.
If you don't love it, you can flip it at minimal loss.
Hope this helps, just my opinions.

That's where mine was, tons of watchers, no serious offers. The market is extremely soft. My Core SAS is priced at the bottom, and sitting there.
Wish you were hear, I would have a great one for you.Sub 2k for a used CU24 in great condition ain’t happening in Europe
I actually do see them in holland lately. However, used market and holland is soft as soft can be. We do not have a real band culture. We are more a country of DJs...That's where mine was, tons of watchers, no serious offers.

I have a lot of high output guitars, I'd probably use the PRS for more smooth, fusion world music-ish kinda stuff (ambient arpeggios and creamy leads). So it sounds like I should go for 85/15s. When did they appear on the scene?I doubt the 89/90 has dragons. Probably T/B or HFS/VB.
But definately different beast than the 85/15. A lot more output and more mid focussed (HFS/VB), compared to the lower output, more wide freq. response.
