Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I have a question I can't seem to find great information on. I just purchased a 2018 PRS Custom 22 LEFTY wood library with a Charcoal Cherry Burst finish on a monster artist grade flamed maple top, matching flamed maple neck, mahogany body and East Indian Rosewood Fretboard. full green ripple abalone birds fret inlays and mixed gold/nickel hardware!!

It has been shipped and it certainly was not cheap. It really does look beautiful, and for a lefty, it's not easy finding a guitar of this quality. Don't get me wrong, the quality far outweighs my talent as I simply love to play at home.

So here is my problem, when I asked PRS about the specs, they came back that it was a Korina body and a Ziricoat fretboard.

The seller has 100% positive feedback on Reverb. He apologized for the error and will take it back if I refuse it at Customs (I'm in Canada) Does anyone know if these woods are as good or better than Mahogany and East Indian Rosewood? I've read the Ziricoat is a good comparison to the Rosewood, but very mixed opinions on the Korina. Also are these more expensive woods than what was originally advertised?

I appreciate any feed back at all.

If anything that would sweeten the deal for me. Ziricote is an awesome wood for fretboards and Korina backs are like mahogany but generally lighter. I had a similar thing happen when I bought my wood library 594. The dealer said it had an ebony board but PRS said it was actually African Blackwood, I definitely wasn’t complaining!

Yep, I'm with the others that have already chimed in. Love a Ziracote fretboard, and I have no issue with Korina, either. The fretboard could have some great character. I have this on one WL guitar.

You guys are amazing and thanks so much for replying so quickly. i was so afraid I have gotten "taken" or this was some kind of knock off.
I did quickly review the woods and other boards were not huge fans of the Korina compared to mahogany. I'm no expert so i'm sure I will love it in the end. Just got concerned that they were advertising the wrong product for a reason. He does seem legit and said I can simply refuse it at customs and he would refund me. I'll accept it and see how it plays.

I would say that both ziricote and korina (sometimes called white limba) are more exclusive wood options than mahogany and indian rosewood. Are they better? That’s subjective. Korina is similar to mahogany soundwise but is said to have slightly more prominent mids. Ziricote is harder than rosewood I believe and has got a more pronounced attack and it’s maybe a little bit brighter, more like ebony.
I have a Wood Library Custom 24 with those same woods (korina body, maple top, flame maple neck and ziricote board) and it’s an great guitar. Brighter and with a faster attack than my mahogany body and neck maple top and ebony fretboard Fatback 24 but it sounds and plays great. And I really like how it looks.

The covered pickups are 58/15’s, the open pickups are \m/’s.

Good choice.
I’m betting you will love it.
