I am long time Les Paul Standard fan. At 68, I am finding weight comfort lacking ( at this point in my life, still great guitars) I bought a 2017 PRS S2 Vela semi hollow reclaimed Brazilian wood and fell in love with the comfort weight body fit. I want to replace my LP Standard with a solid body now and am looking at Pauls Guitar and Custom 22. Not trying to replicate Les Paul sound. Each guitar has its own voice.
Problem is I cannot find Customm 22 to try. Looking for comparable comfort, body carve, lightness, etc. To my Vela.
Any ideas, comments ?
Thanks !!

The Vela SH is probably the lightest PRS guitar made, other than the Hollowbodies. You might want to consider one of the SE Hollowbodies (great guitars), the S2 McCarty 594 Thinline or a Core McCarty. Certainly can’t go wrong with a Paul,s….happy hunting, you won’t be disappointed with any of these!

The 594 is close enough and you can find them lightweight....are you looking for a hardtail as well?? I love the S2 series for the price....whats your budget??

The very heavy Gibson Les Paul Studio I did 20+ years of learning on got retired, recently got my PRS SE and aint looking back, only forward. Someday perhaps an American made PRS.

Not Les Paul. More Paul. Paul Reed Smith.

Only taking this axe from my cold dead hands or having it unexpectedly crumble in my hands while I'm still alive can change my mind.

My dream guitar has simply become a top tier fully hollowbody HH 24 fret PRS axe. And in the meantime my SE HB II is the antidote that floats my boat.

I play my McCarty 594 HBII 99% of the time even though I own two CU24s, including a Private Stock version. The reason for this is because of the weight difference. My HBII is 5.6 lbs, the CU24s are 7.2 and 7.6 lbs, which makes a big difference for me after the first 2 hours or so ;~)) Glad you love the Vela and congrats on the path to a second PRSi!!!

I will never turn away from my Gibson Les Paul's for obvious reasons - the necks are just such a joy to play. But have lusted for a PRS from afar and a few months ago found a deal on a SE Standard 24 I could not pass up.

Yup I get it, that PRS neck surely rivals the Gibsons, and in time it could be possibly happen that I prefer the PRS - (obviously more light weight).

But not yet - I love playing all of my collection, and thus even out and minimize the fret wear across the herd. my Ham fists can wear some frets, and I am from time to time doing some fretwork as a result.

But Yes, PRS is worth the hype. I am sold. L6dist
