PRS CE24 - does the trem have to float?

I recently bought a PRS CE24 and I love it. And I got it with the trem set flat against the body.
But after much reading realized that the factory setting is a floating trem.
The trem screw notches are all even and the trem knife edge is in all the notches perfectly.
While I dig that, is that really necessary?

I think it is ok but just wondering if there were any opinions that it's better to keep it floating.

Hey,

From what I've read and saw, it's best to keep it floating . You will scratch and dent the finish underneath. You can buy a trem block to put underneath which work great . I'll look up some links lol

I am not worried about cosmetic damage to the paint. My concern is structural integrity over time to the trem and screws.

If the trem plate is slammed down on the guitar's top, you will need to raise the saddles really high to compensate. unless of course you like your action really low.

I like a floaty trem and low action, think I'm in need of an uproute to get some fluttering
