Hi guys,

so I decided to go with the G-System for my switching and the effects for my guitar tone.

So is there any advice what's the best set up to hook up my rig?

Signal chain:

Guitar -> Line Driver/Buffer --> Wah --> Rack --> ISP Decimator Ch. I --> G-System --> Archon In --> Archon FX Send --> ISP Decimator Ch. II --> FX Loop with G-System --> Archon FX Return

So is the best way to hook it up using the 4-cable-method (so G-System before the amp AND in the loop)? Any need to use a buffer with the loop? Anything else I have to consider to get the best out of my right with low noise?

Thanks guys

Yup, that sounds right. Try it without the buffer first, but yeah, some effects need a buffer in the loop.

I just run my G-System into the front of the Archon, with some distortion pedals in the G-System's loops. Right now, it's guitar -> G-System -> Boss looper -> Archon. At times, I'll add a wah and/or B9 pedal in front of the G-System.

I know it's "better" to run the 4-cable system, but I've never bothered. I've also never bothered to set up the G-System to change the channels on any of the amps I've used it with.

You will want a buffer between FX send and GS Insert return. The Decimator will do the job there. I use a Sentry, but same idea.

Guitar -> Wireless
Wireless -> Sentry Input 1
Sentry Output 1 -> GS Input
GS Insert Send -> Archon Input using Humbuster-type cable
Archon FX Send -> Sentry Input 2
Sentry Output 2 -> GS Insert Return
GS Output -> Amp FX Return

The wireless acts as a buffer, but so does the Sentry, as does an ISP, so you wouldn't need a buffer for the guitar there. The Sentry works like a Decimator G string, where channel 2 is gated by channel 1. I think you can do the same with two channels of the Decimator.

You definitely want the GS back-end in the loop. Distortion does terrible things to effects like chorus, reverb and delay. However, it does amazing things with flanger and phaser and vibe, so I have some mod pedals in the GS loops for that.

Elvis, that is the way I will set it up...I have even bought a second HUM ELIMINATOR by Ebtech to prevent any ground loop issues..I will set up the rig next week, will report about results then...

I ran my Archon the same way you did. Buffer is definitely necessary between the fx loops and also to the front of the amp. Make sure your Gsystem lvls are set accordingly, I usually set input at -4 and output at -4.
