PRS and the Met in NYC

American guitar maker Paul Reed Smith will present a custom-made electric guitar to The Metropolitan Museum of Art in The Sackler Wing's Temple of Dendur, followed by a demonstration of the instrument by legendary guitarist John McLaughlin.

In 1985, Paul Reed Smith founded PRS Guitars, and in that time his instruments have become well-known for their beauty of finish, as well as the high-quality wood used to build them. PRS has become one of the most successful and influential guitar companies in the world, and Smith's instruments have been used by many of the most prominent electric guitarists of the last quarter century.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is pleased to add this guitar—representing one of the most important contemporary guitar makers—into its encyclopedic collection of musical instruments.

I must say, I like those birds... sort of similar to those on the Paul's guitars, but with a little more definition.

I was off by two days in my visit to NYC and my youngest. Missed Brian's event also which was an 1.23 hour away. I guess you can't do it all, but family called. Congrats on another milestone PRSh. I'll have to make a special trip for a viewing.

This was such a great event. There was a great turnout for the PRS crew and everyone there tonight had such appreciation for what the folks at PRS do whether it was the museum staff, folks in the crowd or the artists that came out to play. Congrats to Paul and Paul and co! Sorry folks, only had the ollllll iphone camera this time! Oh..and the guitars going in to the museum are freaking stunning.

BTW, I think my favorite bit in the pics above is the one of McLaughlin playing - with Paul taking a picture of him. Shows his enthusiasm as a fan.
