Lets just say I'm glad the Legal Limit in Kentucky is (was?) 0.1 instead of .08 like Illinois.
Although, in retrospect, the story does have its funny moments.

So up until this point the Private Stock guitars that I've been lucky enough to own have come into the fold in just about every way possible except for going into the Vault myself; something I have ALWAYS wanted to do & will do at some point.
Until that day occurs...the closest that I came was back during a Brian's guitar clinic where I picked the wood from a small sample of kits that Brian had already selected & brought to his event:

Actually, as of 2019, it's not 'you can pick' but rather 'you might be able to pick'.
Placed an order in January 2020. Granted I was very specific about the type of top to pick, but I still asked on the order sheet to see the top to give the green light.
There was an update to the spec sheet in June to change the neck profile, and somehow the request to see the top/neck was missing. I didn't pay too much attention to it as I thought that was standard procedure anyways to let the customer see the blanks.
Guess what ? Last week I learnt my guitar was in the final inspection stage, and have never seen the neck blank and top. The dealer was surprised, and so was I (not pleasantly). Their rep reminded them of a note sent to dealers in 2019 indicating that PRS may choose the tops to achieve the best look/color.
At least the good news is it took 12 months instead of 18 months. Am I happy about it ? Well, that'll greatly depend on the top of that guitar.
In light of this I would now vote to do the build in person.
Either that or be sure to require seeing the woods to pick from.

It's a scary enough proposition to order a core guitar sight unseen...I can't imagine going Private Stock and not getting to directly select your top. I hope whatever shows up tickles your fancy / meets your expectations.
