Hello all. New to the forums and to being a proud PRS owner. I picked up private stock #4207 and had a question what the pickups were in it. The paperwork says they are SD-7s does that mean they are Seymour Duncans? Any help is appreciated.

I believe so.
Pics of the guitar help on this forum!! :) Although IIRC you are talking about a NOS black quilt with a floyd and a braz rosewood neck that was on the bay....

Sorry guys there are no pics as I don't own a camera. That makes me feel better they don't sound as good as I would have thought... Think I could get PRS to custom make a 59/09 for a 7 string . If not Bare Knuckles here we come!

Jazzedout - That's the one.

Welcome to the forum!

Now, I say this with the utmost respect and politeness...

Are you crazy, man? You come in here telling us you have a Private Stock 7 string and that you ain't got no pics and ain't got no camera??!?!?

Steal a camera and give us some pics, bro!

I'm not a junkie, I can quit any time I want, really. There is not need for an intervention. I just need to see that thing. It's all good The Universe is not about to blow up, I think.

Where is that damn pic??

Keep calm.

Breathe......

Sadly I dont think so - PRS has never wound their own 7 string pickups - they've all been aftermarket (and mostly Duncans).

If I could recommend a Bareknuckle pickup I'd suggest you check out the Blackhawk. Its absolutely killer in all aspects.

Rugerpc. Sorry I hate cameras with a passion. I know its cruel but... ugh cameras. If I can get my hands on one I'll put some pics up.

Themike. Thanks I was debating a mixed pair with a black dog in the neck. But no firm decisions have been made yet. I just know I'm doing a swap from the original Floyd to the pro and pickups at the same time.

Now there's a new pickup that would sell like hotcakes - especially with all the 7-strings SE's hitting the streets. I like the sound of my 7-string's stock pups but US-made 59/09's would be too cool to resist; espcially if they were zebra squabbins.

I thought the same way about the Dimarzio ToneZone. when the 7 string version came out I bought it, since I really love the sound of the 6 string version. I am sorry to tell you that although I still love the 6 string version the 7 string was kind of dissapointing. (guitars were both same specs apart from the extra string, Ibanez RGs). I believe it is very hard to adapt a 6 string pickup to the 7 string format. Just my 2p...

Me neither after a night at the bar and a taxi ride home I saw the email string about my offer being accepted. Best mistake I ever made.
