Pretty cool way to spend a grand!

In all seriousness, just grab one, any one. It'll be completely different than anything else you have and it takes gain like a boss. Instant stage queen. Then if a Reclaimed comes available, grab it too. The used market isn't flush, but they exist.
I know, I know. I've really kinda spent my allowance already!

Come on, V. Sometimes you have to sacrifice to get what you want. I'm a white collar guy by day, but when I wanted an Archon, I had to sell a few organs, get a paper route, open a lemonade stand, and ... well... I shouldn't say this in public, but I had to be an "escort" for a while. My wife thinks I was driving a limo. Don't worry though. I'll quit as soon as I get the amp fairy paid off. And get an HX/DA, a Santana, some \M/ pickups, a DC3, a single cut 594 and a Vela...

I was kind of liking hanging out with rich ladies. Then one night I had a TERRIBLE thought.... "what if these are the guys from the forums wives?" So now I always ask up front "does your husband play guitar?" If yes "does he play PRS?" If no, I'm good to go. If yes to both, I refer them to Sergio. So, if your wife comes home with the wrong nylons on....

Bacon-good! Double decker chocolate fudge brownie-good! Steak-good!

All here today and gone tomorrow, assuming some degree of regularity.

PRS- GREAT!!!! And, here forever. Game over. (One reason I'm on the thin side ;))

I'm on the thin side as well. Funny thing, I love to bake and make sweet tasty stuff but I rarely if ever eat it. I make an awesome cake and rarely do I take a slice. For proper meals, unless I'm on the grill it always turns out poorly (I've burned spaghetti noodles in the past).

Anyways, yes, we are in need of a new range so me buying a new guitar, or jewelry for my wife, is off the table at the moment. Plus I just bought 5 airline tickets to Florida from Iowa and back so my hand is getting slapped each time I reach for the debit card.

But you guys have convinced me - I'm still going to try and squeeze something new in by the end of the year. Bad influences you all are!

That's funny. My wife is not only a great cook (gifted, has this ability to try a new dish at a good restaurant and come home and make it. No recipe, just can taste and say "about this much of this, and that much of that...). She's also the dessert queen! Best cheesecakes ever, many other things. Used to make wedding cakes, does all the decorating with tips, not air brushing them like they do now, etc. And we DO eat what she makes. All my friends say they don't know how we could both look like we do with the way she cooks. I'm 6'3" 185 and she's 5'5" 110! I work out and have been a jock all my life. Play sports, bike, exercise, etc. She doesn't do ANYTHING. And she looks great and young. Might be the desserts

Dude....I don't think it's the desserts. Unless it works in reverse for women. I'm a dessert whore, and I went from 6'2" 145 lbs to 6'2' 255 lbs overnight eating nothing but dessert, and whiskey.

That's called Thanksgiving....especially the whiskey (extended family and all!)

You guys seen these? If I didn't owe the amp fairy some coin, I'd be tempted to join the Vela club. Hard to resist for the price.

(wow, that's a big link!)
I bought this guitar from wild west guitars two weeks ago. Never had worse buyers remorse than after buying my Vela Satin. I want to be rid of it so badly. I bought it based purely on sex appeal and price range. I figured the PRS name would be synonomous with quality so I made an impulse buy. It is a beautiful looking guitar, I'll give it that, but that is about all it is good for, in my opinion. It is a facade, beautiful on the outside and fragile and empty underneath. It is made out of the softest wood Ive ever seen a guitar made of. You can literally indent the body with a press of the fingernail. The finish is paper thin and peals away if you look at it wrong. The single coil neck pickup is all bass and sounds like you put a moving blanket over your mids and highs. It is unusable and not musical at all. The humbucker in the bridge sounds okay, but provides very low output for a humbucker. I am afraid to use this guitar. Not not only is it below average in terms of being a good sounding guitar, it is just asking for damage. I have reached out to PRS regarding my concerns. They all but told me to piss off. At least I know what kind of company they are now. Pretentious, overpriced guitars, built by a company with an inflated sense of entitlement. Dont waste your money.

You came to the right place.

This is definitely far from the norm, PRS customer service is top notch and many of us here can attest first hand that they go above and beyond to take care of customers and quality issues.

Sounds like it wasn’t what you were expecting.
Does wildwood have a return policy?
Just return the guitar if you don’t like it.

This almost seems like trolling

Not trolling at all, just my experience. If someone shares a negative review of a PRS guitar and service experience, it is trolling? I have a 2012 Mira Custom that I will never get rid of. Hopefully that helps clear the air.

Not at all, just a rare occurance here.

I take it you didn't like it?
I realize my post is harsh, but it's still fresh. I've pleaded with PRS to at least make the finish right, but get the "finish is thin to increase the tonal response of the wood" response. I already own a quality PRS guitar and recognize a huge difference in finish quality.

In fairness, the guitar has a single coat of nitro with no grain filler. It's designed to be paper thin and it's meant to show wear. It's for those who actually want their guitars to age and show road wear, like an old Strat before the days of polyurethane.

If showing wear is the idea, you will have no problem doing that with this guitar. Another part of my compaint is that the wood choice is incredibly soft. There are small indentations showing in the wood in various places with light at home use. If it were to take an accidental drop, I'm fairly certain it would flatten the area that takes the hit. If this was a purposeful design choice, so be it. I personally see no reason for it. This is my 7th electric and 2nd PRS and it has me feeling like I'm handling glass instead of a guitar.

I can't speak for your specific guitar's wood, but after reading your post I went and drove my thumbnail into mine and it left an indent. Not entirely surprised... I think we're just used to guitars being encased in plastic finishes.

Thanks for the insight. Sounds like this guitar is not for me, by design. I also did not realize this was a forum for PRS enthusiasts only, but rather to discuss the guitars in general. Not my intention call anyone's baby ugly. Not sure what you are referring to regarding plastic, but I definitely expect the finish of my guitar to offer some protection for the guitar. I own an SG special faded (no paint finish) and it is built like a tank. The wood is hard and can take road use without scarring the guitar. This tells me you dont need plastic or paint to choose a solid piece of wood for a guitar body that will last. This is what I expected from the Vela and one of the big reasons Im disappointed with it.
