Post Picture(s) Using Media tab of Main Navigation

Here's the rationale.

There's a history of this forum. There are others that know it better than I. My understanding is that PRS isn't super interested in maintaining it, starting with hosting images and needing to police that.

People start posting all their competing brand guitars or using it as a free image hosting service is not going to go well for us. Be respectful and don't take this for granted.

I don't believe posting pics of other brands of instruments helps the members of this community or makes this forum about PRS.
I don't intend to use it as a free image hosting source, I used Imgur to post photos in the family photos thread. I was using what appears to be a new feature on these forums to share photos of my gear, if anyone happened to view my profile.

If it offended you so much, why not send me a message instead of giving the images 1 star ratings and posting "Not a PRS" ??
There's a list of rules, there's only 6, and they are easy to find
I've read the rules. It says "please try to keep gear talk PRS-centric" which was why I hadn't shared the photos in the family photos thread. Also, why when I posted the Bernie Marsden Auction thread I only made reference to the PRS guitars in the auction, and none of the other guitar brands.

I would have thought something that I thought was visible only on my profile wouldn't have been an issue, but like I said I would have expected a more mature response if I was in the wrong.

Would you like me to remove them?

I'm one that could careless about other gear being brought up, but I'm not the site owner and operator. Thats PRS.

In my mind the use of media is a little different since it shows up on the main navigation. Personally on a PRS forum I'd like that to be PRS porn and would think that its a given to post only PRS. A group shot with other guitars is also different than showcasing other things individually. Diversity is a good thing. But this is a PRS site.

I don't see what's immature about giving a 1 star rating. We can't all be 5 stars all the time. The star ratings are there for quick n easy feedback.. It comes across as more immature to post being upset than someone using a tool as intended. If used correctly it could be a very useful tool for people to scan different PRS and open a dialog with an actual PRS owner.

Hoping we can use this new feature correctly and not lose our new toy because someone broke it.

Seriously? I'm not looking to argue or anything. The immaturity is that if Black Plaid had an issue with it, it could have been resolved very easily by messaging me directly rather than how he handled it.

Personally, I don't think I did anything wrong. This is a new feature, which no one seemed to even know about by the looks of things. I think I'm the only person who used it. Other people have uploaded non-guitar stuff, no one seems to have got upset about that.

Anyway I'm not going to bother sticking around, I've only been here less than a week and this is a pretty poor introduction to the forum imo. If people are going to get so upset over something that was meant to only be visible on my profile, then it's not worth staying.

The only one I see getting upset is you.

By your logic you could have messaged him instead of posting. To me this post production stuff is the real star. If I didnt like a rating I'd remove or keep and move on.. but that's me. It's really not this big of a deal. As you said its a new feature. We're all learning at different paces. If there hadn't been a rating given and this discussion today Im sure there would be another day. Stick around if you want it's a chill place that's not so serious. If not thanks for the star power and best wishes on your travels. :)

That was never intended to show up. It doesn't solve the legal problems. As I've said, I'd love to offer a more streamlined solution, but I'm not aware of a legal one yet.
Understood, unfortunately we get the same thing happening on the Roon Forum, there is a main Discourse software update ( which the Roon Forum is based on) and we than see sometimes weird stuff appear as functions that were never intended or even able to work correctly!

I've dealt with this on other fronts with pictures and references to personal activities. Privacy rules and their assorted legal aspects have become a total different/off tangent thing and a complete PITA.
When we host a demonstration or tournament at our karate dojo, we legally cannot post photos of the activities of students performing without consent forms signed or we stand the chance of somebody's delicate sensibilities being ruffled. And those photos only go to a members only website (sort of like our little forum community here). We can't even post photos on a personal FB or IG page without consent of the governing body's (our style political hierarchy so to speak) permission. Cripes, we can't even set up a club page on those social media sites for fear of some type of recrimination from them or private individuals should somebody consider them an infringement.
We really do live in a fk'd up world.
