Right now, I'm loving my S2 594 McCarty Singlecut, though I do miss her at the moment since she's getting core pots, switch, and a bone nut installed. In any event, I've been playing a VERY dangerous game and stalking a couple of S2 594 Singlecuts on Reverb with the intention of putting in Core electronics and a set of Bare Knuckle HSP90's...perhaps Manhattans or Blue Notes. Has anyone done something similar? What were the results?

I picked up an S2 594 single cut a while back. I replaced the stock pickups with Throbak SLE-101's and it was a big improvement. All the other electronics are original. Sometime later I bought a core 594 sc with 58/15 LT. The S2 with the throbaks sounds very similar to the core, and plays just as well. The original p/u's in the s2 were good, but a little bland to my ear.

I put a set of Lollar Single For Humbuckers in a 2001 CE. Loved those pickups. This is the video that sold me on them. I say, do it!

For me its the so-so pickups/tuners/nut contrasting with really great build quality and the comfort of pattern vintage neck that make the S2 594 such a mod-able guitar.

To be fair it should've had lockers and bone nut in first place , but I love my S2 just the way she is.

Well, PRS did the run of core 594's with P90's, and I didn't hear anyone complaining! I'd say go for it!

So, I found out a couple weeks ago, Throbak HQ is literally right across the river from where I work. Only problem is, I've got PRS pickups that I love in just about every guitar I own. But, if an S2 594 ever comes my way, I think I'm going to be getting in touch with them. I have a core 594 and love it, but don't hear the same clarity in the S2 58/15's.

Not a 594, but I replaced everything in my S2 Standard 22 with premium parts. Everything imported is gone except the locking tuners. There was nothing wrong with the original parts, but I wanted more out of my guitar. I am extremely happy with the results.

Likewise. On my current S2 594, I went to Phase III Vintage Locking tuners, 58/15 LT pickups, Core volume, tone, and 3 way toggle, and Core 594 bone nut. I'll be picking that one up from the last batch of upgrades today or Saturday depending on how my work day goes. The last batch of upgrades was getting rid of all of the pots and 3 way toggle.
