Poll: Which Pickup Ring colour looks better on my CU24 - Grey Black

I decided it was time to answer the question of which looks better: Creme or Black rings on my Cu24. I've read a few threads and looked at photos, but I figured I would take the plunge. At the same time, I ordered the trem update kit. I wasn't thinking that there was any problem with the existing bridge parts, but I figured at worst it would be a cosmetic upgrade. And I like to tinker.

I changed the tuning keys to some dark mahogany in order to match the headstock veneer and the board better (you can see this better in the last shot), and I just think that the creme rings don't match the top, and they don't really match the exposed maple binding (the binding is much lighter I think). My wife says I'm nuts, and that no one else would think that, but I do... so it's time for a change.

Anyway, without further ado, here is the guitar prior to the surgery (excuse the fingerprints):

And here is how she looks now:

Finally, a full frontal shot, with the warden of the music gear inspecting:

Well, what say you? Black or Creme? Or something else???

Black is my vote. It is also funny how your dog is looking at the guitar.

Black. Definitely black.

Your dog seems to be saying to him/herself: "this is not the chew toy I expected."

When I was a kid the expensive guitars (Les Pauls) came with cream rings, so I tend to associate black rings with inexpensive guitars. Funny how little things like that work, isn't it?

Anyway, it looks great both ways.

Curly maple would clash oddly with the maple that's already on the guitar. Yuck. Ebony or rosewood if you go that way.

I bet some rosewood rings would make it really pop :-)

I know this is a poll, but I'm on my phone and it doesn't show it. I don't know of rosewood is an option in said poll.

Don't get the curly maple ones. they just look like creme ones from far away.

I usually prefer creme rings on black guitars but in this case, for whatever reason, black works. I would also say Sergio's idea about metal rings would work, but I would go with "black nickel"

Black. When I got my Cu24 in 1995, one of the first things I ever bought over the 'net was a set of PRS factory black pickup rings to replace the creams. I don't mind the cream as much on my Eriza Verde studio, but on a darker guitar I want dark wood or black plastic.

Some rosewood to match that headstock veneer would look perfect.
