I'm kinda lucky in that I play in a band that has a bit of a following and gets lots of work. Happenstance, not skill.
Just a cover band, but it's fun and keeps me in some loop that I can't define.
I know a lot of members play in a band pretty regularly.
So, I nominate my three favorite songs to play ...

1. Rebel Yell
2.Gimme Some Lovin'
3. Eruption (Abridged).

Three favorite audience songs from what I can tell.

1. Mony, Mony (Billy Idol)
2. You Shook Me
3. All Right Now

.... classics, never changes.

Anyway, no point to this post, except that playin' guitar is really cool.

Cool post.

I'm in a cover band that doesn't get much work :(
But when we do we have a blast!!

My favorites to play are usually something new we'd been working on always varies.

Best crowd reaction songs always seem to be:
I agree - You shook me -
Sweet Home Alabama
Fight for your right

We do our own version of Billie Jean and that always floods the dance floor. We gig s lot and I like it.

I current am in a alternative/hard rock/ metal cover band. Not really my favorite but it gets me out playing.

3 favorite to play:
1) Crazy Train
2) Man in The Box
3) Cowboys from Hell

3 Crowd Favorites:
1) Enter Sandman
2) Lola Montez
3) Crazy Train

Our band doesn't gig that often, but peoples favorites are
They Call Me The Breeze
Mustang Sally
Old Time Rock & Roll
Everybody Wants to Rule The World

I play in a metal cover band. The crowd favorites seem to be...

Creeping Death
Sweating Bullets
Sugar
Killing In The Name
F'n Hostile

I'm also in a cover band. Mostly 90's alternative rock stuff. Don't play out very often but jamming once every week or so keeps me active and playing. When we have played out some favorites have been:

Evershlong
Tripping on a hole in a paper heart
My hero
Slither
Killing in the name
Basket case
Dammit

My wife and I were talking about my band just the other night. I joined this band last may after I dissolved my own band. I was happy to join because it was something new and I would be the only guitarist. Since then we replaced the drummer and now I'm having to rethink this. When I step back and look it seems there is a lot to fix.

I have a strong desire to put together a 70s band, one that has horns and dedicated backup singers. It would be a ton of work and I'm not sure I have those kind of musicians in my area. Would have to reach out of my area for sure.

I guess my point is that I'm in a band now that isn't fulfilling my needs. I hear things that need fixed but feel I'm the only one that hears it. I feel like a nag bringing up my list of issues at every rehearsal.

We're all in our mid forties and seem to gravitate towards 60s & 70s material, although we do a lot of more contemporary stuff also. That's one of the great things about music, lots of variety for everyone's taste and interest.
Been together about seven years now, but this may be our last go-round. I sense that everyone is getting a little restless with the material, music and life in general, so we will have to see what happens. Regardless, we've had
a good run, are all friends and will remain so.

A band with a dedicated three piece horn section would be awesome, but very unlikely for us. We've had horn players sit in with us over the years and it always sounded great. Full time would be a challenge wrt material and egos.
I plan to keep playing for the foreseeable future.

Plus those horn players usually want to get paid like everybody else . My band is a Motown, R&B, Blues, Rock & Roll cover band. The songs I really like to play are

1. Tell Mama
2. Damn Your Eyes
3. Red House

The crowd (that's an exaggeration, we often play to a small handful of people :bawling:) seems to really like

1. A Change Gonna Come
2. Me and Bobby McGee
3. Purple Rain

I don't even solo in Tell Mama or Damn Your Eyes but our singer does such a great job with the Etta tunes that they are a blast to play. And Tell Mama absolutely moves and grooves!

True, as they should. There just isn't enough money in it for that to be feasible. We do it 'cause we love to play and regard it strictly as a hobby. If we had to depend on band earnings we would all be living in our drummer's van.

Favorite songs for me to play change all the time and it's all good.

Trying to get back into things..l played for a long time in a classics band...70's, not 50's...my faves are Cant get Enough, Red Barchetta, Tie your mother down, and My Sharona (this one has pretty easy bass, and fun to watch the people) ...audience favorites around me...anything Skynyrd, 38 Special, and My Sharona

I am a weekend warrior so this is my hobby. You are correct about trying to get everybody in a large band paid, it would seem impossible. But my intent is to take it up a notch or two and really make it a show.it may be a band that only performs 6-12 times a year.

Hell I may not have it in me.
