Piezo

Hello! So, I watched a video over the weekend about the Piezo Custom 24 and I'm still not clear on how it works. Is there a separate acoustic style PU somewhere in there? If so, where? The guitar looked like a straight solidbody to me. By the way, I bought an S2 Custom 24 recently and I love it!

The piezos are built into the bridge saddles. I have a P22. Here's a pic of the bridge. Notice the oval shaped bits that are around the string? That's the piezo pickup for each string.

I use mine in the studio, I have found that utilizing Impulse Responses of acoustic guitars loaded into my Helix makes the piezo pickup take a MUCH more believable acoustic sound.

I use mine in exactly the same way. It does a very convincing acoustic sound, easily as good or better than an unprocessed piezo signal from an acoustic-electric.
I works great live too - my Helix is used as the pedalboard/switcher for my Mesa MK V amp, and the second signal path in the Helix processes the piezo signal out to the PA system.

Ok, you are losing me a little bit here with the tech talk. I know the basics of recording (home) but what is a Helix? As a matter of fact, what is a piezo? I have not done anything with acoustic guitar in many years and even then it was as part of a folk group with a few mics etc.

First - a Piezo is a type of transducer (pickup). You can read all about it here if you want:

A Helix is a Line 6 modeling product that allows you to load things called Impulse Responses to mix and match with Line 6's own modeled amplifiers and cabinets.

An Impulse Response is harder for me to explain. They have been used for a while in high-end reverbs to give you the sound of actual concert venues, famous studio rooms, etc. Read these:
