For Owners of these guitars or someone who is very familiar w the preamp's schematic/design:
I'd like to power the LR Baggs' designed piezo preamp in one of these guitars with an external power source like an EMG 918 instead of having to keep a battery installed in the guitar. The EMG 918 is an external unit like a pedal that connects to your guitar's (Stereo) input jack via a Stereo/TRS cable. It uses the Ring section of the TRS cable to provide the active circuitry in the guitar 9v of power.
Continuity test with my multimeter indicates that the "Mag" jack of one of these guitars that is on-loan to me currently, is a Stereo jack.
Anyone know **for certain** if the LR Baggs-designed preamp on these PRS guitars is designed like EMG active circuitry, where the Ring of the Stereo jack can be used the feed the preamp 9v of power?
Thanks
