Piezo differences?

I'm new to this very informative forum, and did a search for this topic, and only found one thread, that didn't really answer my question.

so forgive me if this is beating a deadhorse, and I'm happy to read a thread if it's already been addressed, so here it goes.

I've not bought one yet, but I've been playing the Hollowbody ii at the local guitar center for a few years, I really like the mixing of the piezo and humbuckers. this model was from 2010, the 25th anniversary edition. well, it went on sale and got sold before I could grab it. since then, i read one note about the piezo being different on the new models. is this true? when did they change? what years? how are they different?

there are a few different years for sale on ebay, and I'm wondering, since I can't play them.

I would love to buy a new one, but since this is my hobby instrument, I have a hard time spending that much when it will only be on stage a few times a year. I'm sorry if that offends anyone.

any help would be appreciated. I'm new to understanding PRS's. thank you.

Welcome, Redbeard. If I'm not mistaken the new version started in 2012 with the P22 and simultaneously on the Hollowbody models. One of the new features is that the individual volume in each string can be adjusted (internally).

Welcome. If you liked the one from 2010, you'll love the 2012+ one. I think it sounds a little more full, and the adjustability is nice.

Also keep in mind that if you can find a screaming deal on an used one without piezo, the PTC can probably install one (I know they can on an Singlecut HB). It's a pricey mod, but it's an option.

Also, DO IT! I love mine!
