Paul Reed Smith Large Hollowbody Proto #1 only two ever made! designed by Joe Knaggs!

PRS PS #78 as the Large Hollowbody design morphed several times and was released only in limited edition's. This is a lovely example and is a splendid versatile instrument.

This guitar was designed and built by Joe Knaggs while he was with PRS. The Single Cut Prototype Proto #1 was the first PRS Single Cutaway guitar sold by PRS as a company (Paul made some earlier examples prior to PRS becoming a company). Knaggs welcomed the chance to build this guitar as Paul had encouraged him to build a Single Cutaway. Many months were spent in the production of these guitars and Knaggs built at least one mockup model that was hand carved to use a model for the CNC machines at PRS. This was an important project for PRS as the design work and build knowledge that went into this guitar was later used in the building of PRS production models that are a large part of their lineup to this day.

I love that Hollowbody proto. I had photos of it as my wallpaper for a long time. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Also, I edited the "sales verbiage" to stay within forum guidelines. Thanks for understanding.

Ive seen this one in the PRS book. I have PS #104 which is the same prototype shape with a brazilian neck. Ive posted photos of it on the forum. If you search for PRS singlecut prototype in a search engine, it should bring you to that post I made last year.
