So, having recently upgraded to locking tuners and strap locks on my Santana, I’m turning my attention to the pickups. I’m looking for a cost effective (ie cheap) pickup option to get something a little less hot that has a McCarty or 57/08 vibe (if money no object, I would be straight in with the 57/08). On my other guitars, these hit the spot for me, both tonewise and output.
The Santana is quite a bright sounding guitar and the pickups, particularly the bridge seem a bit hotter than the McCarty or 57/08. I’m looking to mellow out the brightness and reduce the output a tad for better cleans (I tend not to roll off the volume, as I alway forget to turn it back up again

Research on the interweb has took me in the direction of Irongear Rolling Mill and from their description, they seem to fit he bill. The other option being the Blues Engine, but I’m thinking that may be too tame.
