Pickups for a drop tuned McCarty?

Those look pretty aggressive :oops::D
Those are the Hyper Vintage Railhammers. I got them on the occasion of their first release. At that time covers were not available but have since become available; but I'm too lazy to mess with them at this point. They sound like classic vintage voiced PAF's. I've also got them wired Series/Parallel with Push/Push pots on the guitar. In Series mode they sneak up real close to a Tele type voice with a little vol. drop, but I use a dedicated mini-clean boost to compensate for that with out having to mess with the amp or guitar volume. The higher output Railhammers are designed for drop-tune heavy'osity.

I use 57/08 and 58/15LT pickups in most of my guitars. I play progressive doom metal, with my guitars tuned to C# standard. I use Ernie Ball Burly Slinkies (11-52). I am VERY pleased with the tones I am getting.
I second the 58/15LT with Burly Slinkies as one of my go to setups for Drop C and D-Standard. I am playing through a boosted SLO or 6505+. These pickups hold up very well, though they are not my top PRS set. That goes to the Tremonti pick-ups which have more clarity for my playing. The Tremonti's also respond very well to rolling back the volume where 10 works well for Lamb of God and Hatebreed stuff while dialing back to 7-8 works well for Black Sabbath and Bad Religion.

I should also note that I am a rhythm player so my version of "clarity" may different from others who are playing lead

Some of the stuff I want to play is actually in Drop A. But I might tune to Drop C and try the Digitech Drop pedal to lower the additional 3 semitones.

I guess I could always try the 58/15TM set that came in the McCarty. I wasn’t wowed at the time. But my setup has likely changed since then. But I think I’ll start with the \m/ set I already have and go from there. Maybe Aftermath’s next.
