I got a SC250 gold squabbin bridge pickup to put in my CE24 and tried to install it yesterday but cavity isn't deep enough, DANG! Since I had it apart on the table I just started digging around and found a Dimarzio FRED that I had forgotten about. Not sure why but it sounds much better in this guitar than the one it came out of, could be a keeper.

How does one know if it will fit before buying? I guess I could put SC250 on craigslist unless somebody on here could use it.

Man, you've been really putting in the time and money looking for a bridge pup for that particular CE!
What are you looking for that's been lacking in the ones you've tried already? What do you wish it sounded like?

I have noticed the same thing on my CU22, the cavity is only so deep because of the trem rout behind it. A lot of pickups, especially those with longer legs will not work with it. I don't understand why any humbuckers have any legs whatsoever. I'm sure there was a reason in 1957 or whatever, but nowadays there's no reason for it.

Currently I have an Anderson H2+ in my SE Santana, it's pretty good, with a very unique sound and design. It's one of the tallest pickups I have seen. There's no magnet under the bobbins, and instead the bobbins are taller than any others and the magnet is wedged in the middle between them somehow. Anyway, even though it has different dimensions than most humbuckers, there are no legs whatsoever and it fits great in the guitar.

Unless you are married to the gold squabbin config, I may have something that would work. Message me and lemme know what you think...

I'm just a fickle SOB, I don't know what I want. I would put in drag 1s if I could find a set. I was bidding on a set of 5708s but I'm afraid those are going to be too expesive. I would have put those in my McCarty and took the 5909 I had in it and put it in the CE. I guess I'm looking for the Holy Grail!

We had rehearsal again today so I had a chance to put a couple of my guitars through the paces with newly installed pickups. I would say paydirt x 2! The 5909 bridge in my McCarty simply kicks ass and the dimarzio fred that I put in the CE sounds really good too. Of course I will need to gig first to know for sure but that will happen this saturday as it's my current bands last gig. I'm going to take over guitar duties in another local band starting in May. Should be a hoot!
