Looking for pickup suggestions for my 2020 S2 Standard 24 satin.

Love the guitar but find the pickups a bit muddy (especially the neck) and hoping to find a decent upgrade set that doesn’t break the bank.
If money was no object I would just get a set of USA PRS pickups but they’re not cheap.
Mainly looking for lower or medium gain pickups with emphasis on clear and articulate tone that can be splitable.

What do you suggest?

I can say 59/09 are awesome in my CU24, a lot seem to pair 57/08 with a 59/09 but I’ve not tried that ……yet

Seymour Duncan Hades Gates!!!

Try to find a Starla “S” aka DS-02 (import version) pickup. I put one in the neck position in one of my S2’s for the same reason and it worked like a charm, splits great too.

Especially when it comes to that specific problem of a muddy neck humbucker, I feel that changing amongst different models of the same basic type of pickup, in this case PAF style, gives small changes only. Changing to something different altogether will achieve more. The Starla pickup is kind of like a Filtertron.

Would it be worth looking into changing the pots and wiring before changing the pickups? I know sometimes those can also muddy up the tone of a guitar.

This order..

5708 neck and 5909 bridge
Wolfetone DrV and Marshallhead bridge
Jb/59

Duncan jazz/jb?

getting a lot of suggestions for the JB/59 might look into that. I was under the impression the JB was a fairly high gain pickup though

I replied with the jb/59...its not as hot as you might have thought...and if you lower the pup you can make it lower output...thrres a lot of mid gain players who swear by their sizzle and grind in the right guitar...I have em on 2 of my 5 PRS...theres tons of pup choices and I have BK pups in another PRS that sound killer but for the price the SD is a win...
